Cool Hi!

I live in Taylors (Greenville County), SC and I love to drive. I can drive ANYTHING. I especially love small, fast cars.

I'm new to Acura but have owned 6 Honda's intermittently as well as other makes and models:
1986 Prelude Si
1991 Prelude Si
1994 Prelude Si
2000 Civic
2002 Accord
2001 Accord

I recently purchased a (used, of course) 2002 Acura TL Type S via private seller. The seller seemed so up-front, honest, and knowledgeable that I gave him a great deal on my old truck I had at the time. Within less than a week, the problems started. Since the date of purchase (I've only had it one month as of this post's date), new problems continue to arise on a seemingly daily basis. I always wanted to own an Acura because I knew they were "higher-end" Honda's and seemed to be nice cars. However, first impressions go a long way and this particular car has left a sour taste in my mouth regarding the brand. I appreciate any helpful advice during my repair endeavors.

Welcome to Acurazine! Post some pictures of the ride. I've had 3 TL's up to this point:

1) 2007 Acura TL Type-S (sold last year)
2) 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT (currently own)
3) 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD 6AT (currently own)

I've had a terrific experience with all of them so far. There have been minor issues that arose, however in the overall picture, they are extremely reliable, and I'm extremely satisfied.

What are the problems that you're experiencing?

Where do I begin?

1: Fuel pump went out
2: replaced pgm fi relay
3: misfire even after replacing spark plugs
4: replaced one - O2 sensor
5: replaced heater coils
6: had a code for knock sensor, but since clearing codes, it has not reappeared
7: new fuel filter when I replaced fuel pump
8: (latest issue) problems with transmission (multiple symptoms)
9: half the electrical features do not function
10: missing one exhaust pipe (I was not aware it was missing when I purchased it because I was stupid and went and looked at it after dark)
11: power steering is intermittent
12: the heat/AC fan only blows hot air at all times unless it's off

I could go on and on about the minor things

I am currently researching transmission fixes versus rebuilds and replacements. I am also considering selling it for junk because the cost to repair or replace the transmission is far more than I even paid for the car it being 21 years old. If I ever do get out from under this heap, I'm very reluctant to buy another Acura. Pics to come...

It's unfortunate that you've had so many issues. From what I've read, it seems the 2G had more problems than the 3G and 4G TL. You shouldn't dismiss Acura because of this poor experience, in my opinion.
