New to Acura, 2001 TL

Hi all, I just bought a 2001 TL from a close relative who was the only owner. It has 221,000 miles on it, has always been garaged. She just bought a 2017 TLX and decided to let her TL go. Car runs great and is very clean. I've reads all about the trans issues and this one has never experienced any. Perhaps because she has always done the scheduled service by the local dealer.

Like all 17 year old cars there are some minor things to address that I will take care of over time. Up first will be to inspect and clean the screens on the linear solenoids just to be on the safe side. It also has the Navi system. They may be the original maps. I use Waze so this is not a real issue.

Well, looking forward to my time here.

Welcome. Yeah, take good care of that transmission. I'd change the fluid every 10-15K if I were you. I believe 2001 was about the time where they improved the transmission resulting in a little bit better reliability through 2003.

Thanks for the reply! My DD has been a 1988 Jeep Cherokee until now. That thing's a tank!! It's nice to drive something a bit more "refined" (OK, a lot more refined).

Congrats dude! We have basically the same car, only key difference being that mine is the right-hand drive version (Honda Inspire/Saber), but also facelifted and also a 2001 model. With J32A2 and AV6 transmission swap And I love it to bits, so much nicer than my old Prelude.
