Thumbs up 06 TouringImportant facts to common troubles

I bought a 06 MDX fully loaded literally out of he showroom floor. Leased it and then financed, now own it. My extended warranty ended July 21st 2014. Prior to that my lil and vtm-4 light came on and Killed the ignition fuse so I stalled out about 1/4 mile from my Acura Dealer which is Open road of Acura in Wayne, NJ. I never had any problems before, got regular maintenance done, not from the dealer of course. Maybe the first initial till I realized I was paying double for everything. They told me that two sparkplugs broke apart and parts went into the cylinders. The cylinders had to be removed and re threaded so new plugs and new coils could be installed. Although they would not perform that kind of work, they wanted me to buy a $7,000 engine. My entire engine was still under warranty($2,200 warranty)but they claim that spark plugs are not covered. They were the original spark plugs I only had 90k miles. So since the spark plugs are the cause of the problem the engine would not be covered. Well my question what caused the spark plugs to do that probably the faulty cylinders so they are covered why wouldn't my engine be covered. To no avail I got nothing but a $500 service bill for diagnoses, ah hello if an extended warranty don't cover diagnosis how would they ever fix the problem? Anyway went to an engine specialist who fixed cylinders, changed the plugs and 2 coils therefor repairing the engine, $2,800 dollars later. Now 2 and a half years later, those light come on again. Of course I'm fearing the worse. Turns out a completely clogged air filter and 1 coil were the issue this time. Well we will see. So I say make sure your air filters are 100% clean. Count on having coil problems when you get 10 about 90k. I say change the plugs at 75k and inspect the coils and air filter. Most importantly always use high octane, never regular gas in an MDX. I was getting Cat troubles and because my wife was using regular switched to super and all cat troubles went away. Another common problem is if your battery is not holding charge the way it should its 99% the Hands Free link, they all break down and when they do they continue to draw power 24/7. That problem took me 3 months to figure out.
