Noob in need of help with detailing around Boston, MA

Hey fellow Aziners,

I am quite the noob when it comes to washing/detailing a car, and was wondering if there were any of you guys in the Boston area to help/teach me how to do a proper detail job, as I would like to learn how to properly do one in the future. I have an 07 WDP TL-S, and shes in need of some TLC. It has some swirls in the paint, and the roof definitely needs some lovin'!

I would like to do this as soon as the weather in the area gets better, and I am free most saturdays...

please let me know.

Where in Boston are you, I'm in Malden, I might clay bar/ wax my car when the weather is nice but cloudy, and also detail the inside, I'm not a pro but have done a lot of detail work on my own cars.

I've got 03 CL-S

edt: nvm I see you're in Waltham hah

I usually bring the car thru touchless car wash, then clay it, then hand polish, and then hand apply wax. Nothing to do paint correction tho.

I'm seriously considering a kit of Porter Cable 7424XP. Cost about $200. If you bring the car to a detail shop for complete detail, it would cost the same anyway. The only thing holding me back is I don't have a garage, sux

this is my normal routine.

interior:
-vacuum carpets, seats, vents
-wash windows
-condition leather
-condition vinyl

exterior:
-tire/wheel cleaner applied
-wash and brush wheels tires
-spray on detailer and dry with chamois then a bunch of microfiber towels
-dress tires

if you plan to wax, (don't need to do it more than once a year)

after wash/dry:
-clay bar
-apply polish (if there are very noticeable paint swirls, scratches etc)
-wax

no need to go crazy but you'll need at least a good 2-3 hours to do all this if you plan to wax. Just need a nice cloudy day to do it.

He is the process I use for the exterior. I use a Porter Cable 7424xp Buffer.

  1. Wash car at self service car wash
  2. Clay the whole car with Megs Clay Bar
  3. Compound with Yellow Lake County polishing pad and Megs Ultimate Compound
  4. 2x Zaino Z-5 with Z-FX Flash Cure and White Lake County Polishing Pad
  5. 2x Zaino Z-2 with Z-FX Flash Cure and Black Lake County Finishing Pad
  6. Finish with Zaino Z-8 Spray Sealer
  7. Tires dressed with Armor All tire gel and foam applicator.
Here is my coworkers X5 I did this week:

I just started a side biz detailing, got the PC 7424XP as well and a bunch of supplies. Let me know if you're interested I'll give you an AZ discount of $10 off the price list. I've had only one customer so far but she seems happy hah

Question for you.....are you using the Lake County or Megs pads? I've been using the Lake County ones and that have worked great, but I need to reorder soon and was thinking of giving Megs pads a go.

Going to try and put a full detail on CarrieLynns car today since she is letting me use it while mine is being fixed.

I got a kit from autogeek they came with lake country pads, i might try the megs as well i think my local advanced auto has them.

I'm also gonna get the pinnacle pad cleaner/conditioner to get a little more life out of the pads, I'll wash one with dish soap and the another with pinnacle cleaner to see if there's a difference or just a gimmick lol

the lake country yellow cutting pad is awesome, i got some pretty nasty scratches out with it.

eneffex i may take you up on that offer soon...its just so hard for me to keep my car clean though!! freakin sucks

anyone know of any other parking garages not necessarily in the city? somewhere in the suburbs maybe? having a location that isn't so obvious for cops is probably a better idea, since they have quite an issue with having meets because of people doing burnouts, etc.

what city would people be coming from? Waltham, MA for me

sure thing dude, here's my updated site, 10off basic/intermediate and 15off the premium for you guys.

http://narinsdetailing.wordpress.com/

I'm not sure of any other garages, I'm coming from Malden, but I might hit up that Mass Tuning one in Boston since its legit now and they reserved the spaces.

just shoot me a PM with ur availability and we can work something out man
