Acurazine East Coast Mega Meet

Alright, so alot of interest looking at the West Coast thread. Let's decide on a location first and we can go on from there!

I think probably Richmond, Virginia or Washington DC seem the most reasonable. Just depends on how many people come out!

I was about to post this thread. Great minds think alike.

DC might be too North to draw the FL/GA heads, no? NC looks money (even though it's a 10 hour drive for my CT ass).

Location is first, then we need a lot of other shit. Permits, sponsors, vendors, flyers... etc.

This will need to be a spring 2010 thing I think. We have like two months of good weather left and that's not enough time to do this up proper.

Also, suggest change of thread title to "Acurafest East"

I was thinking either NC or VA. They are both in the center of the east coast.

Yeah, that was my thinking as well, and if we run this in Spring, the weather in NC would be gorgeous.

fizz - do you want to see if you can get a Poll added to your threads to let people vote on a location?

Once locations are narrowed down, members local to the potential sites will need to check out possible venues to help make the final decision.

in order to determine location, I suggest we take a poll and see whos interested and where they are from. Its pointless to make it in NC if the majority of people interested are from CT/MA (just an example) just so that the 3 people in FL have less of a trip. Again, just an example not hating on FL people.

So, post up if your interested and where youre from.

Just knowing where someone's from and that they're interested isn't enough, though. We also need to know how far each member would be willing to travel for this event.

I think the best way to do it is a simple poll (Where should Acurafest East be held: DC, VA, NC, Other) and run from there.

Thats true. However, ideally everyone would like to drive as little as possible.

The difference between DC and NC is 6 hours. Id do DC but not NC, especially if just for a weekend or even a single day thing. I dont hear of too many people from FL, SC or NC...most of the east coast consists of NY, CT, MA..or at least the people who post.

Yeah. DC is looking like a smart choice... but this is a newborn thread, hopefully the Atlantic/Southeast folks will get in on this and show some interest/input.

I would go to this. We should do this around May 2010 when the semester ends because we need to take those that are in school into consideration.

June would let it warm up even more to give us a better shot at nice weather (unless it's like June 2009 and rains for 26 days of the month, ugh). Plus if we get into late May, we start to contend with the Memorial Day holiday, which might make it tougher to get people to come out.

Im with you on this.. there seems to be 100+ people from NY, CT, NJ and MA alone..

What about the Jersey shore? like cape may, way down at the tip of NJ. that would yield a much better turn out for the NE people im thinking

yeah but that would eliminate the southern crew. They re not gonna drive all the way up here for a meet. I think the point is to try to make this a huge meet like the california one was.

I'd be hard to pressed to go much farther north than the D.C. area, and I'd only go that far because I have friends I could stay with up there.

There aren't a lot of AZers in north Florida, they're mostly down by Miami, and they're looking at a 1,000+ mile drive each way to D.C.

Ahhh yeah thats the one..2007 seemed soo long ago haha..hmm is there anyway to sync up all the threads...or just make one big thread where everybody on the east coast can go to? I think that would help with planning, so that ppl are all in the loop...instead of having to click on each region

I think Raleigh would be best. I'm in Northern FL and it's probably about a 7+ hour drive. FL is a very long state east/west and north/south. For SFL members it would be 13+ hours. Shoot, from Miami to Jacksonville is about 6 hours and they are still not out of the state. The most northern and most southern obviously are going to be the longest drives. Raleigh would be about right for both ends. Depending on the location, you can make a great weekend out of it.

I'm up here in Boston area and I'm game for DC or NC doesn't bother me either way. then again I'll probably just keep driving right down to Fl to visit family. I do hope this happens. I'll take a couple weeks off work to hit up the meet and then head to Fl.

I just got back from a drive down to Virginia Beach area. Took me 10 1/2 hrs down and 12 hours back. 1 hr of the return trip was yelling at my bank to unfreeze my debt card. Once again I forgot to call the bank to let them know I would be out of state.

It wasn't a bad drive at all. I would have enjoyed it more if I had someone in the car with me that would keep me company.

New Jersey is directly in the middle.. i think that would be a perfect spot, especially as mentioned by the shore! just my . Otherwise driving down to dc when half the cars are from the top 4 states

Somewhere along MA,CT or RI would be a realistic place for MA members. Maybe Capecod (Beaches)
