I saw one of the 917/30 at Amelia a few years ago, amazing car.



Horsepower: 1250-1560 (depending on boost)

Top speed: 240+ mph

Weight: 2000 pounds

Zero to 100 mph: less than 3 seconds

Zero to 200 mph: 10.7 seconds

What's crazy about the 917/10 and 917/30 is how the driver's feet are forward of the main structural chassis and in front of the tires.
Also I never knew where the intercoolers were located until the body was removed.
I saw this car close up and didn't realize the intercoolers were at the very rear of the car but were covers by bodywork and ducting.

Besides the amazing acceleration of the turbo 5.4l flat 12 engine. It's fuel capacity of 106 gallon fuel capacity was unreal (CamAm must not have allow edrefueling during racing I'm guessing).

but surprisingly AFAIK, no one died in a 917/10 or 917/30 crash.
Probably because of the high caliper drivers that drove them.

Brian Redman told me in the pits at the Glen years back that was the scariest car he ever drove.
