Who's been to Fontana ?

Who's been to Fontana ?
I'm pretty sure my wife and i are going to the CART race at Fontana in November. How are the sight lines ? Is it a good place to see the race ? Thanks for any input. Anyone else here going ?

I've been there 2x, once for initial CART race and then again two years later (when Moore died). I've been all around the place b/c my brother was general manager for the food service (Sportservice). He got us hooked up so my wife, father and step-mom sat in the Miller beer suite (next to Penske's) so my sight lines were great to say the least (had an all access pass both times as well). This is a cool place to watch a race. Enjoy!

The first CART race there, Mauricio Gugelmin set a closed course record qualifying lap of like 252 mph or somethin' like that. We were on the pit roof watching as he went around the track. I've told this story a bunch of times. As he went by at that speed, we had to keep turning our bodies to follow his progress he was going so fast. You figure, it was a sub 30 second lap on a 2.5 mile track! Now that's fawkin' incredible. After the race, we were in victory circle w/ all the photogs and dignitaries and Big Mo made the podium (2nd I think). My Dad got his hat and I got Vasser's. But in the scuffle to get the hat, some asshole behind me would not let go of the band and broke it. Oh well, I still got the hat (Goodyear). BTW- my wife's camera got ruined by the champagne spray! But she still got the pix developed.
