Starter, you work w/ Canadian Auto Club or whatever it's called? I was gonna do that at Watkins a few years ago but never made the time to do it. Must be great.

No, I have a SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) National Flag & Communications license. That lets me work any Canadian event since both groups cooperate.

I remember one year at Canadian GP the "usual" corner workers got ousted by some sort of intra-club spat and were all seated inside the casino hairpin. They all had their flags and waved them at the cars appropriately (blue- move over, oil, etc) the entire weekend. It was a lot of fun to watch these people! That's why I asked what association you were with. kewwwl man, always wanted to be right there!

Hey, Come to Toronto!!

Hey, Come to Toronto!!
The group there is QRFA (Quebec Race Flagging Association) and they had a dispute with the promoter over how much they'd be paid to work the event. -- That's how it's done everywhere for the Pro races. The promoter pays the local group for working his event and the local group pays the expenses for their people for the weekend (lunches, goodies, etc.) as well as puts the rest toward their operating expenses for the rest of the year. All the local F&C groups work many club racing events and just one or two biggies each year, when F1, CART, ALMS, etc. come to their local track. The money they make pays for a lot of the equipment like flags, radios and such.

Sorry I missed you. I left on Thursday morning and didn't get your post. Maybe next year, if there is one.
