Quite the reality check. I know cars are loads safer now, but it's still a dangerous sport

I remember the Earnhardt crash, I was watching it live. That was not even a bad crash, so you would have never of thought it would kill him.

i remember watching two deaths in nascar. One in the early 90's at watkins glen where jd mcduffie ran into the tire barrier where the bus stop is now. I saw the earnhardt wreck.davey allison in 92 pocono, bobby allison, richard petty, geoff bodine a couple years ago in his truck. Rusty wallace when he wrecked at talladega and daytona almost every year, mostly on his roof.

Neil bonnet's last wreck for his comeback, there are too many, massa last year.......

I've seen that not too long ago.

Although not on the list, the one I remember most was the Stan Fox crash at Indy. There are others that tunred out worse, but watching that car spin and hit the wall with his legs hanging out the front sticks with me.

The worst crash I've seen is Felipe massa getting hit in the head by a spring. But I've only been watching Formula 1 for about 3 years I think, and I dont really watch any other motorsport.

I've been going to races since the 70's and have seen too many deaths unfortunately (Greg Moore's was the most recent)

Greg Moore's death was probably the worst that I've ever seen live. When the accident happened, you just knew that he died before the car even stopped.

I was standing in the room at California Speedway when Moore's death was announced live.

I saw Moore that entire weekend. His RV was next to my brother's and he had a brand new S2000 he kept parking in front of my brother's place. Michael asked him nicely if he could park elsewhere b/c that was his only spot. "I'm not moving it" came the reply and he walked away. The next day flying thru the pits on his scooter he ran into a friend of Michael's who did all the floral arrangements for the teams who was driving a golf cart. Moore lost and got a slight fracture of his wrist. Saturday night we watched the Japanese F1 race in the Mercedes tent (catered party) and Moore was there walking around. Sunday morning I talked to him briefly about the speed of the track (Big Mo qualified at 250+) and he said he was looking forward to the race. A few hours later . . .

While not really an Aryton Senna fan, due to his over aggressive nature toward other drivers, his crash is the one I remember most. He was a truly brilliant driver, and arguably one of the greatest that ever lived. Coupled with the fact that off track, where I was a huge fan of his, he demonstrated enormous heart and caring.

The world became an emptier place that day.
