Well, I've been thinking about it for years and I've always thought it would be a relatively inexpensive way to enjoy one of my favorite weekends at the Glen even more so by buying a car, going to schools and getting my certificates all in order to compete. It can be done with relatively modest budgets so I've been drawn to MG's that are already race-prepped. This one was $27,500 but that excludes the trailer and truck I would need to haul it around. I imagine there would be other weekends to attend with it perhaps at Mid-Ohio or Lime Rock.

Looks sweet! That would be a lot of fun to race.
What kind of series are there in your area?

well, I'd get involved racing in the SVRA series events held at venues like Sonoma, COTA, Indy, Watkins Glen, Virginia, Road America, Sebring and Amelia Island amongst others. You don't have to race in all of them of course, just the ones you want. Car clubs rent the Glen out (most rented track in America) so on those days I could shoot down there for a day of hot lapping. Gotta get a racing school approved by SVRA to get my entry license but a 3 day course at say Mid-Ohio would cover that easily. This is a definite course of action I see myself taking in the future. I'll keep you posted.

Sounds like a blast to me. COTA is the only 'real' track near me. Otherwise, we have TMS is Dallas & TRS in South Houston. Not sure what they do at TMS other than the oval.
