too bad those pics don't make for a very good 1280x960 wallpaper.
does look like ssr comps, makes me want to have them even though they're out of my price range.
All that body work is custom i'm guessing? And where's the sunroof? I love how they kept the stock shifter. The only OEM thing in that cabin.

Can anyone tell me what the cars in this series have in common with their stock form. Like what does the 325 they are racing have in common with a real 325. And more importantly, what does the TSX they are racing have in common with ours. Obviously the cars are completely stripped and lowered, but what abbout the engine, suspension architecture, chassis, etc. Is this a real TSX or a race car with a TSX shell.

I saw a short piece about the SCCA tour on Car and Driver TV (on SpikeTV) from 2 weeks ago. A Mazda team drove a Protege or something in it, but they could be competitive because you are given more leighway based on the stock car. Since its crap to start with they could build a custom intake manifold. I would think there's a K24 engine in there at least. Unlike the Spoon Japanese Euro-r with a H22 in it

I like how they took the side mirror control/joystick and moved it to their control box by the shifter.
I'm guessing the car was originally a Carbon Grey TSX...check out the side mirrors.

Their definently using a 2.4 which apparently is rated at 230HP.
Its not just a TSX shell on a race car. They've had less than one year to bring this car from stock to race ready so how much could it have possibly changed? Their RSX still uses the Macpherson setup so I don't think that major changes would be allowed.
I'm wondering how the hell they shed about 700 pounds from stock???
It will be a sad day in Gilbonia when (not if) the TSX wins a race this season over the vaunted "RWD God car".
The fact that the TSX was within 0.30 seconds of the 1st place car while running only one lap to their 3 to 6 tells me something about how good Kleinburg or that TSX is. Can't wait.

700lbs is not too hard to remove. Stripping the interior and removing all sound damping material is good for 400-500lbs. Notice that they've removed the sunroof which is good for 50-70lbs. I don't know what the rules allow but they probaly also replaced the all the glass with lexan. They probalby ended up removing more than 700lbs but had to add a little weight with a roll cage and other small things.

I liked one of those photos from VTEC.net so much that I took out the busy background and made an 1152x864 desktop picture out of it.

Race over, Kleinbuing finnishes 2nd, 1.8 sec behind first. A very impressive first showing.
Matt Plumb finnishes 8th in the RSX, 22 sec back. Gonzales 12th 33 sec back in the other RSX.

Yeah...pretty good showing for the TSX debut. It appeared to me that PK had a pretty good start. He qualified 3rd, but jumped to the lead before the full course yellow.

So does this put to rest the TSX vs RSX debate? The TSX is fundementally the better track car, while the RSX will be better at something like autocross.

I don't think this means much for the street TSX vs. RSX. The track ones were only had a 50lb difference, while ours have a 300lb difference. Good to see that there is more portential as a track car though, they must really think highly of the K24 to change it up.

But if RWD vs. FWD doesn't make a lap time difference in this race, it must really matter on 65 MPH freeways, right?
Face it Gilbo, unless you are drag racing supercars or going 150+ MPH in your Formula 1, drivetrain platform is one of the least important aspects of how well a car performs.
