Realtime TSX

Here is a pic of RTR TSX in Sebring Raceway today. PK (piloting the TSX) ranks 3rd after today's practice.

I do find it cool that they kept the side markers in the mirrors. I know they have to keep them somewhat stock, but that's a cool little detail.

Qualifying starts in about 12 minutes. You can check the live timing and scoring on World Challenge's site. Just click on the Qualifying - SCCA SPEED Wolrd Challenge Touring Car in this link. http://www.world-challenge.com/2004/...ivetiming.html

Thanks

BTW, I think it says something that they put Kleinubing in the TSX and not in a RSX. He is their best driver and would usually stay in their best car. The fact that he's in the TSX leads me to believe they feel the TSX gives them the best chance at the championship

Thoughts?

Domn, click on the driver's name in the leaderboard and you get his profile at the bottom of the board.

I think it means that he's in the pit now. Green means that the car is on course.

edit: The qualifying is over. Kleinubing is in 3rd. Here are the top 5.

1. Bill Auberlen - BMW 325i
2. Bob Stretch - BMW 325Ci
3. Pierre Kleinubing - Acura TSX
4. Nic Jonsson - BMW 325Ci
5. James Sofronas - BMW 325Ci

I was about to ask the same thing? I'm thinking it can't be good. Anyway qulaifying is done and the TSX finished 3rd. Very impressive for its first time out.

Crisco, all the profile shows is lap times etc, no car info.

Does this mean that the TSX has more potential than the RSX as a flat out race car? I know its still early but this is very promising IMO.

Kleinbing only completed one lap, whereas most of the other drivers completed 5 laps. I think he must of had a technical problem (red indicator??) and bailed on the rest of the qualifying.

Domn, you're right. Try going to the practice results page, and they'll list the car info for you. Or the entry list:

That is one sweet ass looking car. Not a bad showing for its first time out.

Let's see how it runs in the race.

That has gotta be a mistake. It should be Bill Auberlen who finished 1st in a BMW 325i. Randy Pobst is in the GT series driving an Audi RS6.

Actually, I checked the car registrations as of yesterday and noticed they were running two TSXs and one RSX-S with another RSX-S registered without a driver. Good to see that Matt Plumb is also doing pretty well in the car. RTR should have a good showing as long as the car is mechanically sound. They're going to have teething problems with this car, like they would any race car, so don't be surprised if the first race or two show DNFs as a result of mechanical/electrical gremlins.

I'm surprised about the pulling out of the RSX. They pulled off second last year in that car.

I still don't see Bill Auberlen listed but who cares I trust you. crisco has a good point about the laps though. It looks like Kleinburg only completed one lap while the 325's ran 3 to 6 each. I wonder what happened.

I miss the good old days where you'd see

1. Integra Type R
2. Integra Type R
3. Integra Type R
4. BMW 323
5. Integra Type R

The ITR's would qualify fast enough to place 10th in the GT class. Think about that for a second. They would out qualify M3's, Vettes and Vipers. What a car.

If you go back to the live timing and scoring page, there is a link on the bottom of that page that says "Add Commentary History to Window". Click on it, and you'll see the comment about Bill Auberlen improved to 1st.

I wonder what happened as well. It could also be the team strategy. I need to read up on the rules to find out more, but I think they race on the same tires as in the qualifying round. So Pierre could be saving the tires for tomorrow.

Hmm you may have a point.

"Driving the No. 98 Wheels America BMW 325Ci, Stretch posted a fastest lap of 2:22.421 (93.526 mph) in the second session; a full 1.7 seconds clear of the rest of the field. A reflection of the new spec Toyo Proxes RA-1 race tires for 2004, the lap is over four seconds faster than the existing qualifying record."
Got that quote from the news page. It looks like the Bimmers are on some new tires. Maybe RTR is'nt and they know they need to conserve as much as possible because they're at a huge disadvantage??

I just ordered SPEED from my cable company. I don't want to miss a race this year.

No...this year, all TC cars are on Toyo RA-1 race compound (last year was Toyo T1-S street tires), and the size to used for all TC cars are 235/40/17. The RA-1 tires won't last as long as last year's street tires.

I just checked the final grid for tomorrow's race and apprently, RTR will only be running one TSX in the race. Matt Plumb has traded in his TSX for the RSX-S according to the grid. Let's hope our TSX can hold against the onslaught of the BMWs.

Actually, from the press release of the RTR's TSX, it has always been only one TSX in Sebring which is driven by Kleinubing. Plumb will be driving the RSX-S in the beginning (maybe first few races) and eventually will move on to driving a TSX.

GO TSX!

I know you guys probably wouldn't do this anyway, but just in case:

For the race, try not to put the results in the topic heading. Some of us tape the race and don't want the results spoiled before we get a chance to watch it. But yeah, the TSX seems fast right out of the gate, just as we all knew it would!

GO TSX!
