Went to the Detroit Grand Prix 1983-1988, here are some scans of a few of the pictures I took at the race and in the garage (in the basement of Cobo Hall). Quality is not great but it's pretty amazing how close we could get to the cars and see some of the drivers in the garage.

A couple friends and I drove through Friday night to get to watch practice on Saturday, due to security being pretty lax we got really close in the practice session.

In those days most teams let you get fairly close to the cars in the garages. Lotus mechanics were really cool, get as close as you want BUT DO NOT TOUCH.

Pretty amazing days to watch Senna, Prost, Piquet, Lauda, Mansell, Rosberg, and others battle it out on the bumpy streets of Detroit.
