The Official MotoGP Thread

The MotoGP season kicks off this Sunday in Jerez, Spain. If you have not watched a MotoGP race and your a race fan, shame on you. This is the pinnacle of motorcycle racing. We're talking 350lb. machines with 250hp, capable of 205 mph at certain tracks. The amount of balls required to ride one of these beasts is mindboggling. These aren't typical sportbikes you see every day, they are full blown factory backed racebikes. My personal favorite is the Honda RC211V, it's a 990cc, V-5 powerplant which sources claim produces 255hp. The sound of that bike is incredible. Anyway, if you want to see the most amazing racing series out there, bar none, tune in to SpeedTV Sunday at 3:00EST. You'll thank me later.

I'm crossing my fingers that I get to go also, the race is sold out, but there's always ebay and scalpers. I just watched the second practice from Jerez and Sete looks super fast, of course Rossi is right there also. One hour of qualifying Saturday determines the poll. I hope I get to see it before I go to the Supercross. If not I'm taking the laptop with me.

It was un ugly win for Rossi but even with less power he managed to get by Gibernau for the win.

Rossi is the man. Honda shouldn't have let him leave. No matter how good the Honda's are, it still needs a top driver to win races.

I'm a member at MotoGP.com and I got to watch it twice. Live without commercials on the puter, then on Speed. It was an awesome race. It seems that Sete is a question mark for this weekend with the shoulder injury suffered in the last corner melee. I only hope Nicky's performance before his crash is a sign of things to come. Should be a hell of a year if race 1 is any indication.

that race was insane...... Gibernau looked like he was about to cry in the post-race interviews...... Rossi was just like "ehhh.. it wass a ... a great race, I won"...... gotta love the top racer attitudes...... they just like, "yea... I am ze best, zank you very much"

Tough one for Sete today. He dominated only to throw the win, and possibly his title chances away. Overall a good day for the Honda boys with a 1st, 3rd, and a 4th. To bad we have to wait 2 weeks for the next round.

Damn...You guys are weak, I thought there were more motorcycle fans on this site. Oh well, they have been off for 3 weeks. Must I repeat myself, 250 hp, 350 lb motorcycles, guys riding them with bad intentions. Tune in to Speed 6:00 this Sunday. I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

Yeah...Sete is pissin me off this year. He's on my fantasy MotoGP team and he crashes weekly. I'm gonna give him another week, being this is his home GP. If he doesn't podium, he's history. What I hate, is he's the most natural rider out there. It's amazing how smooth he is...Rossi's a little ragged at times, but effective nonetheless. Sete needs to find a pace, somewhere in between running away with the race, and jerkin off in 5th. He's got another race to prove himself, if he doesn't produce, I'm jumping on the Melandri bandwagon, while there's still room.

I try to stay up on AMA SuperBike and Moto GP, but the speed channel only shows racing on Sundays and Tuesdays. I typically forget to search the net for more updates. I'm a fan nonetheless...I even have Moto GP 2 on my computer.

Whose is riding the Honda RC211V?

Another race - another win for Rossi. It doesn't matter what he rides - the guy is awesome.

Would you agree with what one of the announcers said about Rossi near the end of the race... something like "He's probably the best rider that ever lived"...?

As much as I hate to admit it, Rossi is probably the best rider ever to throw a leg over a GP bike. The fact that he's won on the 500's as well as the four strokes speaks volumes in his ability. I guess the naysayers will say "Wait till they downsize to 800cc's next year" and see if he dominates. All I know is, the Honda's are strong on a weekly basis. Rossi's the only rider doing anything on the Yamaha, qualifying aside. My Honda loyalty is killing me on my Fantasy Motogp Team. I'm not throwing in the towel yet, as there are 11 more races to go. I'm still pullin for Sete and Melandri, I just don't see anyone beating Rossi, other than himself.

Alright you not interested in motorcycle racing peeps. It's the USGP at Laguna this weekend. Qualifying starts in 15 minutes so tune in to SpeedTV like pronto. This could be the only other race Rossi loses this year, he hasn't been faster than 5th in any of the 3 practices so far. Could be some fresh faces on the front row for tomorrow's race. Nicky's flyin, Bayliss is fast, Hopper's in the mix. It's gonna be awesome.

Sweet...Nicky wins his first, Rossi third, which is news in itself, as Rossi's won 6 of 7 so far. I guess I misjudged... I thought people might be interested in MotoGP with the Honda connection. Apparently not. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. If you missed the race...big mistake. I'm done trying to educate you people...Lata.

I watched the Moto GP race at Laguna. Great to see Nicky win at home. I always watch the AMA races and I'm a Mladin fan and all around gixxer fan. I have a 05 GSX-R 750. Maybe the GP race will get more people to watch them and the AMA racing.
