From here: Lamborghini Teases New Huracán GT3 Race Car: Video
After revealing the racing version of its Huracán designed for the Super Trofeo one-make series back in August, Lamborghini has now started teasing a new GT3-spec version of its all-new supercar. Though it’s not widely known, Lamborghini has had a GT3-spec Gallardo in its ranks for several years. Developed together with motorsport partner Reiter Engineering, the car has primarily competed in the Blancpain Endurance Series.
With its new Huracán GT3, Lamborghini is handling much of the development itself through its Squadra Corse motorsport division. The automaker is also drawing on the support of fellow Italian firm Dallara, which was also a partner in the development of the aforementioned Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo.
The Huracán GT3 was recently taken to Italy’s Vallelunga circuit where it was able to undergo its first shakedown test, glimpses of which are featured in this video from AutoEmotionenTV. Under the supervision of Lamborghini’s chief tester Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini Squadra Corse drivers Adrian Zaugg and Fabio Babini set up the car for the first time.
“I’m pretty much satisfied with this first test of the new Huracán GT3,” Sanna said. “We still have plenty of work to do to be ready for the upcoming season, but performance and reliability feedback is encouraging.”
The upcoming season Sanna is referring to is the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series, which is anticipated to race at five venues in Europe including the famous Spa 24 Hours. Additional competitions taking place in North America and Asia are also planned, starting from 2016.
GT3 specifications allow a wide variety of car types to be homologated with almost no limit on engine sizes and configurations or chassis construction or layout. However, cars must meet certain power to weight ratios and typically must have outputs between 500 and 600 horsepower and weights between 1200 and 1300 kilograms.

Lamborghini To Race Huracán GT3 In Blancpain Endurance Series With Grasser Racing
Lamborghini’s new GT3-spec race car based on the new Huracán made its debut last month where it was confirmed to enter the Blancpain Endurance Series this year, one of Europe’s most prestigious championships for GT racing. The Blancpain Endurance Series, whose highlight is the Spa 24 Hours at Belgium’s legendary Spa-Francorchamps, is primarily designed for private teams, which is why many of the automakers that want to race in the competition team up with other teams.
In Lamborghini’s case, the Italian automaker has joined forces with Austria’s Grasser Racing Team (GRT). The team will field two Huracán GT3s: a number 19 car driven by Fabio Babini, Jeroen Mul, and Andrew Palmer; and a number 63 car driven by Adrian Zaugg, Mirko Bortolotti and Giovanni Venturini.
Fabio Babini and Adrian Zaugg were already involved in the Huracán GT3’s development in 2014 as the official Lamborghini Squadra Corse (Lambo’s new motorsport division) test drivers, while Mirko Bortolotti was appointed as a works driver at the end of the 2014 motorsport season.
The Blancpain Endurance Series has its opening round in Monza on the weekend of 11-12 April: the same weekend that sees the kick-off of the 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe one-make series, where the Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo race car competes.
As for the Huracán GT3, it features an FIA roll cage integrated into the aluminum-carbon chassis for a total curb weight of just over 2,700 pounds, distributed 42-58 percent front-rear. The car’s final race weight and output from its 5.2-liter V-10 will be determined under balance of performance rules by the FIA. Cars it will go up against include GT3-spec racers from the likes of Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Porsche.
