Honda’s fierce recruitment drive across the Formula 1 paddock, which has even arisen as a possible motivation for “Stepneygate”, has added another high profile name to the Japanese team’s staff.
After the announcement of former Williams aerodynamicist Loic Bigois, current BMW chief designer Jorg Zander is the latest to join the Brackley, UK-based squad.
"I am delighted to be returning to Honda and to England, where I know I will feel very much at home again," said Zander, who worked with the then-BAR team between ’02 and ’05.
"Honda is a fantastic group of people. It is also a team with enormous potential and the determination to fight hard to achieve its ambitions. I am very excited that I will be a part of that."
Bigois and Zander also worked together at Williams.
"This is the latest in a series of key appointments that we have made in order to bolster our team," said Honda technical director Shuhei Nakamoto.
"We have some very talented people at Honda but Formula 1 is a rapidly changing sport and we need to evolve in order to keep pace. With the steady performance improvements we have made over the past few races and a strengthened technical team, I am sure that the difficulties we have seen in the first half of 2007 are now behind us."

Finally Nakamoto-san is replaced in spite of being someone's best friend high up in Honda world.

With the then-BAR ex-exployees now all coming back to Honda, it's about time to build a winning F1 car like BAR then. I guess those hard-core Honda big brass managers finally realize that the F1 team needs outside help. Honda can build motors, cars, bikes, planes, robots, but building a F1 car and running a F1 team is no simple feat.
