F1 was certainly different back then, another great story is Tyrell Racing were Derek Garner designed and built their first car in his home as well. The following year Stewart with the 003 model went on to win the 1971 WDC and WCC. Don't know the exact number but Tyrrell racing was less than 20 people total including Ken and Stewart for a 2 car team back then.
Enzo was furious with his Ferrari team when he found how few people and small budgets were on the British F1 teams yet they kept winning championships in the mid 60's to mid 70's.
I was at the 1983 Detroit Grand Prix on the front straight where the pits were when they won their last race. Even from the stands I could see the tall Ken Tyrell on the pit wall with his big toothy smile, he was so happy and excited.
