McLaren finally gets a title sponsor. Was Vodaphone the last title sponsor? I can't remember.
Will it turn out better than the Lola F1 team?
Last I can recall. I just finished the 2007 season last week.
Wasn't Ron pretty against cluttering up the car with a ton of sponsors? Must be nice to be flush enough with cash that you can turn them away

In general yes, Ron liked a title sponsor. He inherited Marlboro when he took over McLaren in 1981 from his Project 4 team. McLaren still has had secondary sponsors through the years (BOSS, Shell, Segafredo,....).
Hoping the Cadillac isn't a trash can & maybe has a surprise or two
As an American I hope Cadillac does well.
Sometimes even with the right talent it doesn't work out, great example being the Haas Lola team in the 80's. Basically a American F1 team based in the UK, had Carl Haas as founder, former McLaren head Teddy Mayer as TP, Neil Oakley (former Williams designer), Ross Brawn (former Williams engineer), Adrian Newey, Alan Jones (Aussie driver WDC), and Patrick Tambay (French Ferrari driver). Their best result in 3 seasons? 4th place. The Beatrice CEO who sold the board on his F1 plan was fired.
Toto Wolff says Mercedes will continue with its current driver lineup of George Russell and Kimi Antonelli in 2026, even though it might not make a big announcement when contracts are agreed.
Russell and Antonelli have yet to have extensions of their contracts confirmed by Mercedes, with Russell saying he is in no rush to finalize the details of his deal in Zandvoort. Wolff admits there are certain sticking points relating to his schedule away from races that still need ironing out, but that both drivers will race of the team next year.
It's weird. How can you make a driver confirmation without contracts? Obviously, it makes no sense for Russell or Antonelli to want to move elsewhere, so I guess it's just a formality.
a nice touch.
Probably too much weight to add paint to the F/R wings & floor to fully emulate it
I think they did, but the lighting makes it hard to tell. The front wings are normally black, and the rear wings are normally white. For Monza, the front and rear appears to to be silver.
^ I'm impressed with Oscar Piatri's g/f Lily Zneimer whose also a engineering student. Little biased here as I'm a electrical engineer and my wife is also a electrical engineer.
F1 has announced an extension of the Monaco Grand Prix until 2035 inclusive, building on the existing agreement with the Automobile Club of Monaco that runs through the 2031 season.
One of the sport’s most enduring races, having featured on the World Championship calendar in F1’s inaugural year in 1950, the Monaco Grand Prix has played host to plenty of memorable moments over the years.
Monte Carlo’s tight, twisty streets mean the Grand Prix demands maximum skill and concentration from the drivers, while its glamour and unique setting make it one of the most famous sporting events in the world.
Former F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo’s next move has been revealed, with the eight-time Grand Prix winner becoming a Global Ambassador for the Ford Racing division.
Ricciardo has kept a low profile since losing his F1 seat following last year’s Singapore Grand Prix, only recently emerging to explain how he was going through “a bit of self-exploration” while “trying to figure out who I am” beyond racing.
On Friday, Ricciardo took to social media to confirm his new role at Ford Racing – the high-performance division of the Ford Motor Company – with a short message and video edit.
“Kicking back but always seeking the thrill,” read Ricciardo’s post. “Nothing does it better than a Ford Raptor. Proud to be the newest ambassador of Ford Racing.”
In a blog post for the Ford Racing website, Ricciardo opened up about the collaboration, saying: “While my racing days are behind me, my love for anything with wheels will always remain high, and for that I am proud to be partnering with Ford to become a Global Ford Racing Ambassador.
“I am going to be working closely with the Ford Racing team and specifically focus on the amazing Raptor brand and lifestyle that Raptor has become for many of Ford's customers.”
He added: “I couldn’t be more excited for all the amazing drives ahead with Ford and for all the incredible projects Ford Racing has in its pipeline.
“From F1 to Dakar and from Le Mans to Bathurst, few companies have been at this for as long as you guys have. From what I have seen, we have an incredible future ahead, and I am so proud to be joining the team.”
Ricciardo made a total of 257 starts across his F1 career, claiming three pole positions, eight victories, 32 podium finishes and more than 1,300 points – representing the HRT, Toro Rosso (later AlphaTauri/RB), Red Bull, Renault and McLaren teams.
The 25-year-old American, already announced as Cadillac's test driver for its 2026 F1 debut, will spend next season in Formula 2 to collect the Super License points he still lacks. According to Auto Motor und Sport, the likely destination is Prema. Cadillac's co-owner Dan Towriss, who also heads the TWG Motorsports group behind the project, said Herta's gamble deserves respect. We already have two experienced drivers in the cars, he explained, referring to Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez.I'm confident Colton will get his chance. But he has to earn it. It's a bold move. There are no guarantees. He can now prove that he belongs in Formula 1.
Herta moves to F2, with no "guarantee" to get the Cadillac F1 seat. I doubt that there is not some sort of guarantee if he gets the required super license points.
The winner of the 2025 Italian Grand Prix was won by
1) Max driving brilliantly
2) RBR/Honda for designing and developing the RB21/RBPTH003
3) the mechanics who sawed off ~30-40mm of the rear of Max's Monza rear wing lowering drag (ironically not done to Yuki's car)
Think Herta would be welcomed back and be able to return to the grid in IndyCar if the F2/F1 dream doesn't work out?? Or would he be "too old" at age 27-28?
Not overly competitive [never a top 10 overall], but Grosjean is 39.
Marcus Ericsson is 35 & has 3x 6th overall finishes in Indy, with 4 wins & 10 podiums
