Driver61 visited Alpine gearbox group, this gearbox was from 2022. Really cool insight to the design, amazing the height difference difference between the output shafts and the crank input shaft.
Pierre Gasly is set to become the first full-time driver in F1 history to not cost his team a single dollar in damages over an entire season.
Not even a single puncture, cracked chassis, or broken wing in 2024. Don't mess it up now with 3 races left.
Wonder if that number includes things like unforced allocated component failure [if he's had any].
Pretty impressive either way.
Saw this list from another forum[ posted as is, with the odd typos]. Colapinto being 9th in his short stint isn't a great start, and I'm guessing this is GP/Sprint race damages, as things like Antonelli's FP crash aren't in there.

Too late, you just put the whammy on Gasly, it's all over but the crying.
I was watching FP3 this morning when I noticed the Marshalls around Stroll's car had suits whose stripes were flashing yellow for the yellow flag and red for when the red flag flew at the end of the session. I never saw that anywhere else have you guys? Check out video
and I'm going to maintain they're lit up, look at the screenshot's arrows pointing at Marshalls' ankles and look behind where a light source would have to come from: there's no red or yellow lights behind them, especially ankle height.
Pretty good race, Hamilton probably woulda won had he qualified better but interesting how well the MB worked in Vegas in cold temps and abrasive track. Good for Max, deserved this 4th WDC in a inferior car. The drama between the Ferrari drivers was amusing, but to me Sainz deserved 3rd place and to not give it up again to LeClerc. During qualifying was also amusing how many drivers how to block vents in their helmets cause it was so cold.
Also a record was made in Vegas, seven drivers (now Russell) have scored multiple wins in 2024. In 1981 (ironically also the year of the 1st Las Vegas Grand Prix in a parking lot )six drivers did it but there was also only 15 races that season, so 24 races in 2024 kinda shows the commercial expansion of F1.

Read elsewhere that it's pretty much a GM/Cad works team that's effectively Andretti F1 without Andretti.
It's the same team, just rebranded GM/Cadillac. The team will operate out of the new Andretti factory in the UK. Michael pretty much retired a few months ago. Mario will stay on as a team director.
Perez's status at Red Bull will be decided at the end of season by the Red Bull shareholders according to Marko. This is interesting, because for the whole year, the media implied that it was a battle between Horner and Marko on whether Perez will stay. So the real decision will be made by Yoovidhya and Mateschitz. With Yoovidhya having more shares, he's the one that will make the final decision.
However, since it's been previously reported that Horner is tight with Yoovidhya, maybe that is an influence on the final decision.
I honestly can't come up with a single reason why RBR should keep Checo in the fold; he has a tough time getting out of Q1 and has been an absent team member to help Max most of this season. He is the reason RBR isn't going to win the Constructor's Championship IMO, he's got 152 points to Max's 403 and Lando's 340. Time to go.
The only reason is Perez brings in mucho peso from Carlos Slim. That was fine when Verstappen won the constructors championship by himself. But with Red Bull maybe finishing 3rd in the constructors battle means $20 million less in prize money.
Former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone to sell car collection worth ‘hundreds of million
Former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has announced he will sell his entire car collection, estimated to be worth “hundreds of millions” of dollars.
The collection, which is made up of 69 cars, includes world championship-winning Ferraris raced by the likes of Michael Schumacher and Niki Lauda.
Also included is Alberto Ascari’s Italian GP-winning 375 F1, and the controversial Brabham BT46B “fan car,” which won its first and only race before being withdrawn from competition and then outlawed the following season
The news comes after Ecclestone pleaded guilty to fraud last year, having failed to declare more than Ł400 million (about $509 million) of assets held in a trust in Singapore. The former F1 supremo agreed to pay back almost Ł653 million (about $830 million) to HM Revenue and Customs, and was sentenced to 17 months in prison, suspended for two years.
“I love all of my cars, but the time has come for me to start thinking about what will happen to them should I no longer be here, and that is why I have decided to sell them,” the 94-year-old said in a statement.....
Never thought the tax authorities would successfully get tax money owed by Bernie. Quite a sleazy person from a money point of view especially how he's created so many shell companies over the years. Still vaguely remember him in the garages at the Detroit Grand Prix in the 80's, his 70's style briefcase always with him
Bernie Ecclestone has become Britain’s second-highest taxpayer after admitting fraud and paying out hundreds of millions of pounds in a settlement with HMRC.
The former Formula One boss handed the taxman a record Ł650m in back taxes and penalties after pleading guilty to tax fraud and failing to declare Ł400m overseas trust last year.
Mr Ecclestone, 93, was given a 17-month sentence, suspended for two years, and was ordered to pay a Ł330m fine on top of unpaid tax and interest in October.
The payment means Mr Ecclestone has become the country’s second-highest taxpayer, according to the Sunday Times Tax List for 2024. It is the first time he has appeared on the list since it started six years ago.
His lawyer, Clare Montgomery KC, told the newspaper he “bitterly regrets” the events leading up to his criminal prosecution.
The racing tycoon’s lawyers successfully argued the billionaire should not serve prison time because of his “frail” health and substantial tax payout, thought to be the largest in British history.......

That's quite an achievement for Gasly, incredible considering how large and difficult sight lines of the current cars are and there are 24 races in 2024.
Fruitless to rate drivers, so I never watch these rankings. Back in the day, drivers would race a wide range of cars. These days, the ability to glean any useful information on their abilities is hindered because they just drive one car all year.
Whose to say that Perez couldn't be a world beater if he drove a Ferrari, or that Leclerc would struggle immensely if he drove a Red Bull? Impossible to know.
Sergio Perez and Red Bull have reached an agreement to part ways with immediate effect.
Earlier this year, Perez signed a new deal to race for the team until the end of 2026 – on the back of his strongest season ever in 2023, when he finished second to team mate and champion Max Verstappen.
However, his form tailed off after signing that deal, and the Mexican scored just nine points in the last eight Grand Prix weekends of the season.
Throughout the difficult period, Perez remained resolute that he would race for the team next year, but following discussions with Red Bull, they’ve agreed to split after four years together.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the past four years with Oracle Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team,” he said.
“Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I’ll always cherish the successes we achieved together. We broke records, reached remarkable milestones, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way.
“A big thank you to every person in the team from the management, engineers and mechanics, catering, hospitality, kitchen, marketing and communications, as well as everyone at Milton Keynes, I wish you all the best for the future.
“It has also been an honour to race alongside Max as a team mate all these years and to share in our success. A special thank you to the fans around the world, and especially to the Mexican fans for your unwavering support every day. We’ll meet again soon. And remember… never give up.”
Red Bull boss Christian Horner said: “I would like to thank Checo for all he has done for Oracle Red Bull Racing over the past four seasons.
“From the moment he joined in 2021 he proved himself to be an extraordinary team player, helping us to two constructors’ titles and to our first one-two finish in the drivers’ championship.
“His five wins, all on street circuits, were also a spectacular mark of his determination to always push to the limit. While Checo will not race for the team next season, he will always be an extremely popular team member and a treasured part of our history. Thank you, Checo.”
Perez secured five wins, including victory in Monaco, over 90 starts with the team and played a key role in Red Bull winning the constructors’ championship in 2022 and 2023.
The Mexican won’t be on the grid next year – but it remains unclear whether he wants to pursue a seat in 2026.
Red Bull said further announcements regarding the team’s full 2025 line-up will be made “in due course”.
Liam Lawson is favourite to step up from RB to Red Bull, with Yuki Tsunoda looking set to miss out on promotion, the Japanese driver having tested for Red Bull at the post-season test in Abu Dhabi.
