Me, been a subscriber from the beginning. It's great, I never have to worry about setting the DVR, I can watch races when/where I want on my laptop like in the Glen Club during the 6 Hour IMSA race with brother/friends. Lots of cool old shows in the archive and GP2/3, Porsche Super Cup and ability to switch viewing perspectives from main feed to international feed to driver specific feed. Best way to watch F1 as far as I'm concerned.

How's the video quality? Do you deal with a lot of buffering?

Reigning Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich is in pole position to replace Lance Stroll in next weekend's Bahrain season opener.

Stroll, the son of Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll, has been sidelined for the start of pre-season testing this week by a bicycle accident.

The team, and 24-year-old Stroll, have not disclosed the details of the injury. But Drugovich, a new Aston Martin reserve, will be on duty in Stroll's place on the opening day of proceedings in Bahrain on Thursday.

The other Aston Martin reserve is former McLaren racer Stoffel Vandoorne - but he is unavailable for Bahrain testing due to his Formula E duties in Cape Town this weekend.
Maybe Sebastian Vettel should start one final race? That would get him exactly 300 career starts in F1.

YTTV has been great so far, and 99% of the time catches the races when they're on a different channel.

I signed up last night since it was 20% off. I've been watching testing since 10am. So far I like it - I can access it on my work laptop where I couldn't access YTTV (stupid google account blocking). Plus no commercials. The quality is good too.

I have a Hisense w/ Google TV built in in my office, but it doesn't have an app available. I have a Chromecast w/ Google TV on the other TVs, and they do have an app. I've yet to try it on those though.

I haven't been able to access to any of the team radios or multiple camera views though. I wonder if that's because this is just a test session.

As much as I dislike the MB in any color than silver, that bare carbon does look fantastic
The Haas & AT look very similar from the front

The RB looked strong this morning with 157 laps, all done by Max. The only other team to beat that was Williams with 159 between both drivers.

I always wonder if any of these teams are sand bagging. Alonso being just .029s behind Max was...surprising.

Can probably almost guarantee they aren't pushing at race/quali pace.

For reference, 2022 times at the Bahrain GP
Pole: 1:30.558
Fastest Race Lap: 1:34.570
Q1: 1:31.471
Q2: 1:30.757
Q3: 1:30.558
FP2: 1:31.936

I'm sure, but it's still telling when 14 of the 19 cars run faster than the fastest race lap from last year. And if they're all sandbagging, including Alonso, he's got a pretty good car under him.

I'd say Albon & Zhou are the standouts as far as finish position for the day.
Sargeant too, being a rookie

None. I run it through Apple TV at home, the app is downloadable there. For people not wanting to use this service bc of having to use an app, there is no inconvenience and quite frankly, you're cheating yourself out of a great viewing experience as a result.

Not opposed to an app, it's not having said app available on the device & having to slave a 2nd device to the TV to view.

The Haas Formula 1 team will save $250,000 in freight costs in 2023 by halving the size of its pitwall stand, commonly known as a “prat perch.”

Team principal Gunther Steiner says that the money has been fed straight into the development budget for the VF-23.

The team’s push for cost savings reflects the fact that Moneygram title sponsorship and an eighth-place finish in the 2022 world championship have given it the funds with which to push up to the cost cap for the first time.

Haas used to travel worldwide with a two-part pit stand that featured six seats, although often only four were actually used, with one reserved for team owner Gene Haas.

This year the team is carrying only one three-piece section to races with seats for team principal Steiner, team manager Peter Crolla, and director of engineering Ayao Komatsu. The chief strategist has now moved to the garage.

“When you need to make efficiency, you look in everything,” said Steiner when asked by Motorsport.com about the change. “When you need money to invest in development, because we have the cost cap, where do you put it?

“You have six people out there, or a quarter of a million on car updates? I know what we are doing. And the guys came up with that idea, I said if I need to stay inside, I have no problems as well. I don't need to be there.

“They said with three seats we can cover what we need to cover, and we rearrange. But it's mainly a saving to put that money into development because we are at the cost cap."

Steiner says the team has a clearer development path than in past seasons.

"We started already with the upgrades,” he confirmed. “When you have a plan in place, like this year, we are a lot better prepared. So we have got a plan in place and hopefully we get some upgrades soon. If they show results in the wind tunnel, for sure we'll make them and bring them to the racetrack.

"I'm not for saying we just put the package on, if the package doesn't bring anything, you spend money and do nothing. So we put timelines in and see what we can develop.

“And that is what we make, being a full package, being it just a little fairing, being it a front wing, whatever comes we have got quite a good budget now to do upgrades, and we adjust it while we go along, and while we find performance in the wind tunnel.

“And we're not defining how we want a new bodywork at all costs for Barcelona, we go and develop a new bodywork and doesn't give any advantage. Why would we produce it? So we just try to manage it like this.”

So that's about $10,000/race for freight cost for those "command centers". Egads. It would be hilarious if Haas showed up at a race with a folding desk and some laptops.

Found this gem on the Haas website.

Freebirds > Chipotle

Curious if any other teams follow suit on the smaller pitwall

Article from a few years ago, but it's spot on. Why do you need mission control on the pit wall?

https://f1i.com/news/269883-pit-wall...d-symonds.html

Instead, F1 can save money and increase viewership and advertisement if they put the WAGs back on the pitwall to do timing.

Never even seen a Freebirds. Must be a regional chain.

My favorite burrito regional chain is District Taco in the DC area. Fantastic!

I don't have any issues with Chipotle except for their quality control:

1. 20% of the time, their rice is undercooked.
2. 20% of the time, they run out of ingredients, resulting in longer wait time, store closures, or substitutions.
3. Inconsistent quantities.

Freebirds may be a TX thing, started in Austin IIRC.
IMO, far superior to Chipotle.

Email from COTA today:
IIRC, we paid around $700 for 2 grandstand 3 day tickets in both 2017/2018, T9/T4 respectively.
Now, it's just shy of $1k for 3 day GA tickets

GA sucks, I'd never spend that amount of cake for a GA ticket. Just bought tickets for a new viewing terrace ("CGV VIP") in Turn 1 at the Canadian GP, can't tell if it's inside our outside the turn, they were $1050/ea. USD

Parameters for attending that race: I live in Vegas (never in a gazillion years) and ticket is given to me for Paddock Club, otherwise, hard no.

Yeah, free VIP tickets are what I'm hoping for
Worth the cost of a plane ticket.
