it's funny how the Autosport article states RBR was in "high level talks with MBZ" about an engine and MBZ categorically denies that occurrence in another report earlier this year. I guess RBR is trying to make themselves look un-stupid.
Well, I suspect they could both be right. It's just a difference of opinions. Red Bull thought discussing an engine deal with Lauda at Chuckie Cheeses was "high level" talks.
Yes I was hoping to go in 2017. I hope they manage to figure it out for the long hall. Didn't they initially sign a 5 year deal or something with Eccelestone to be in F1? The penalties have to be more than that 5mil they are short.
Here's hoping it pulls through. Really hoping to go next year.
My brother has been saying for 2 years this race was destined to go down the tubes and headed in that direction. Badly kept secret in the motorsports industry.
Looks like RBR's bluff of leaving the sport in order to secure a proven better engine supplier, doesn't work this time.
RBR has no intention of leaving the sport, whatsoever.
That's what Bernie said about BMW, Toyota, and Honda in the 2000's.
That said, I think RBR/Horner believe they are playing a cagey game with Ferrari and Renault.
However these powerunits are so unique and integrated to the chassis that the longer they play around the less design/integration/development/test time RBR will have for 2016.
One thing I'm definitely sure of: you don't know WTF you're talking about. The Canadian GP has been around since '67 and just signed a 10 year extension last year for $187M. It's one of the strongest races on the calendar that isn't going anywhere. I don't even care to know where you got your misguided opinion from, in fact, I'm sure no one here does.

I must admit. I find you entertaining. Somewhat special too. But there are limits. However, the thing is that you may want to start being more polite to people. It is simple act of behaving like a grown up, not as a 5 year old. The reason even more simple: you never know who you are talking to.
(back to F1 discussion now... unless anyone wants to take out their dicks and measure them to see who has the biggest one? LOL LOL LOL)
So as some of you know, Hamilton arrived late in Brazil due to "personal reasons." It was reported later that he crashed into a stationary vehicle in Monaco. I wondered what kind of vehicle he was driving, figuring a guy with his resources was probably rocking a pretty exotic machine. Turns out he was:
"Hamilton crashed 2m Euro Pagani Zonda supercar
The car Lewis Hamilton crashed in Monaco early on Tuesday morning was his EUR 2 million, purple Pagani Zonda supercar.
That is the claim of Germany's Bild newspaper, after the triple world champion admitted a fever was not the only reason he travelled late to the scene of this weekend's Brazilian grand prix.
No one was hurt in the crash, but 30-year-old Hamilton admitted he struck a stationary car. It is believed the crash occurred just before 3.30am local time.
"He reported it to the police immediately," a Mercedes team spokesman said.
Bild said Hamilton's Zonda has a V12, 760hp AMG engine, capable of 350kph."

You're right-I was being impolite, that time. I am an extremely polite person Tony and countenance your misguided ramblings as much as possible but you have a tendency to write things that are completely wrong in an otherwise very informed thread. I snapped but feel justified since you are way out of line on your assertion the Canadian GP is even close to extinction. In the 15 year history of this thread, no one has posted up as much misguided information as you.
I won't comment on the rest of your post but I'm sure you're alone in your assessment.

I am counting the times you, and only you on this site, has attacked me. Too many to sit here and do nothing. So here is the deal ace. I am removing myself from this community until you apologize for these attacks. Capiche ?

I saw this today on "Off the Grid" and had to share. Vettel is being interviewed while he thrashes a Ferrari F12 with Will Buxton in the passenger seat. At the end, listen to Vettel's comment.
That was pretty funny, Alonso and Button at least still have their sense of humor. I also liked when Alonso sat in the lawn chair on the circuit after his car overheated.
End of an era. Losing Hugo Boss, TAG, and soon Johnny Walker in just a few short years. McLaren is in big trouble. I hope they are at least making money with their road cars.
^ They're building McLaren of Houston not far from my office, so there must be something in the road car sales.
According to Google search, McLaren Automotive made s small profit in 2013. At least they aren't losing money from both sides of the building in Woking.

Wow, the hits just keeps on coming. Think Ron will still keep his tone from the pre-season? I vaguely remember him more or less thumbing his nose at sponsors who didn't sound like they were up to his standards.
This is kinda a big deal since Mansour Ojjeh who is part owner of TAG which used to own TAG-Heuer is also part owner of McLaren (IIRC 25%). Sometime in the last few years TAG sold off TAG-Heuer.
No wonder RBR is not quitting the sport, even having to stick with a inferior engine choice, because sponsors are switching from other teams to go after RBR.
