The sounds sucks (lack of sound).
Bernie's been commenting on it (he did before the season started too). Article says a number of race promoters are complaining.

White man speaks with forked tongue Before the season started the Bernster said a few times that the sound wasn't bad but "different." Now he's singing a different song. I don't know what to make of his retirement as I am still unsure what he does other than extort money from countries for his grands prix to come to town.

The sound grew on me between the initial videos from testing to the actual Melbourne GP. Still nothing close to the wail of before, but I could live with it.
I'm not opposed to a mid-season adjustment though.

^^^ except that's far too simple of a conclusion. More fuel means more power and if the Regie has figured out how to use less than 100 kg of fuel for a race distance but still inject more fuel via a heightened flow rate, they are cheating and still finishing (like they did in Australia).
fsttyms1: they've had that series, it was called the Barber Saab series and it SUCKED

And I know, I wasnt serious but that is the path we are headed down with trying to make everyone equal.

there's a lot of articles online about the fuel sensor issues facing the teams before the season started, the FIA's involvement, the technical working group's issues and discussions with the teams. I have no sympathy for RBR-they were told Ricciardo's power plant was getting too much fuel creating up to 8hp more and yet chose to do nothing.
I disagree with the assertion the FIA is trying to make everyone equal, instead it has created a very strict formula for the power units within which each manufacturer must abide. It's no different than it has been for decades in essence.

The other teams applied this "offset" to the sensor's readings and supposedly got accurate values. Was it that Red Bull didn't do the same, and the FIA got readings from an uncorrected flow sensor? Or the readings provided to them from Red Bull's own info?
Or maybe RB's FIA sensor readings were offset as instructed, but they just used the problem as an excuse to go over the limit.

What I don't understand is how the FIA got Ricciardo's fuel info.

a) RB did not exceed the fuel flow rate. The FIA's readings were wrong and RB can prove it.
b) Regardless of whether the FIA's monitor was correct or not, RB didn't use the FIA sensor and it's an automatic disqualification.

But the FIA's accusation is that RB exceeded the fuel flow... so if RB can prove it didn't, I don't know if they can fall back and say "Well, now the reason you're disqualified is you didn't use our flow sensor" and uphold the disqualification. Maybe a fee, or a points/position penalty?
Cool video, BTW.

From James Allen: The nub of it is that Red Bull decided that the sensors were unreliable and applied its own offset rather than the one that the FIA included in its calibration. The FIA observed that it is up to them – not the team – to give instructions on what measures to follow in the event that wrong readings are sus

And another good article indicating the FIA sent out a directive during pre-season testing that if there was a problem with the sensor, it would be corrected "by a factor decided by the FIA" http://www.f1technical.net/news/19219

When did Ferrari last produce the best car on the Formula One grid?
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...on-the-f1-grid
Ferrari car looked off the pace of the McLaren, red Bull, and Mercedes. Kinda surprised since Bryne is back but perhaps he needs more time to design and develop a decent chassis again. Also the days of running 30Km/year of testing at their Fiorano test track are no longer allowed.

Well. This isn't good PR for Ferrari or F1 in general.

Biggest surprises yesterday:
1. Overall reliability seems to have improved from the first race.
2. The pace of RB10 seems quite impressive. Did you see Alonso staring at the RB10 in parc ferme rather than the Mercedes after the race? If Renault really is down 80hp from the Mercedes, things could get interesting once Renault gets up to speed.

Ferrari is just as fast as MBZ-on the straights but they lack traction out of corners and that is killing them. I agree RBR looked like they were in the weeds a few weeks ago. Best chassis with the shittiest power plant.

So RBR, if you ditch Renault, you think MBZ will sell you power plants?
