"I know how to drive, leave me alone." and to the pitwall as Kimi flies past

So i'm looking at tickets for the Austin race. Can someone explain to me where the General admission seats are?? I can't figure it out... is it in the grass or something? And would there be a Screen to watch on?

I'm pretty sure GA is sitting on the grass. I guess if you find a spot close to some bleachers, there should be screens.

Schumacher had #1 status from cars to race strategy so I'm guessing he had it as well. Senna didn't have it while at Lotus and McLaren but he used mind games with Peter Warr (Lotus) and Ron Dennis (McLaren) to get weaker drivers than himself.

Show up and scalp a ticket for a grandstand, if you can't find what you want at the price you want to pay, THEN buy a GA. Don't pre-buy one.

Some bleacher tickets are already sold out, or the packages are at least I believe.
Maybe I'll go for one of the bleacher, but thats roughly $269 or something for the weekend. I'd probably be looking close to a grand with food drinks, rental car, hotel huh?
Shit so expensive, but my only chance to hear the V8's in person!!! Aghh dunno what to do. First I gotta see if a few of my friends are willing to go.

A grand?? You're kidding right? I doubt GA tickets will get sold out-they'll sell as many of those as they can and let people clamor for a spot to watch. You'd better do some research if your budget is a grand. You don't need a car to get to the track, use mass transit

At Kimi's first stint at Ferrari, Rory Byrne was a adviser having designed all of Micheal Schumacher's F1 championship winning cars (including Benneton). During driver debriefing, Byrne could not get much feedback out of Kimi. Byrne mentioned this in casual conversation with Adrian Newey (they've known each other for decades). Byrne asked Newey if he ever got much out of Kimi while at McLaren. Newey semi-jokingly replied "not even the time". So every so often when they see each other, one will ask "what time it is" and the other shrugs.
BTW Byrne was lured out of retirement for the second time by ferrari and is designing their 2014 car. I think 2014 will be a interesting season.

and at McLaren, Kimi being exceedingly frustrated with MBZ engines that had a propensity to blow up would be told to limit the revs as the engine was going to detonate. Instead, he would floor it and intentionally blow the engine. He's one of a kind that's for sure.

I should also mention there would be 3 of us splitting a hotel room, which brings down the cost.

Good point speed, OTOH, the new formula will likely shake up the championship throughout the season as the teams readjust to the regs.

Vettel is a bargain at $18M compared to his peers

Kimi Raikkonen has said the reason he will leave Lotus and race for Ferrari next year is because he has not been paid by his current team.
The Finn, who is on a basic salary of eight million euros (£6.7m), is joining Fernando Alonso at Ferrari to form potentially the strongest driver line-up on the grid.
"I haven't got my salary," said the former world champion. "I like to race - that's the only reason why I'm here."
Lotus have declined to comment.

Yes! Another win by Vettel. What do you think of that Lewis? Oh right, I guess Sauber has traction control now, too.

Uh, oh. Prepare for uglies and exploding engines.
Red Bull designer Adrian Newey has admitted his new car for 2014 is "ugly".
"The new Red Bull is ugly. Unfortunately," he is quoted by the German news agency SID.
Briton Newey, widely regarded as the best car designer in F1, is not at Suzuka this weekend as he focuses instead on the challenge of the radical 2014 rules.
He said he is working on the RB10 for "four of the five days" of the working week.
He said the reason for the 'ugly' 2014 car is because of the new aerodynamic rules, sending designers down the path of penning a "hook nose".
But the bigger concern for F1's technical boffins is the new powertrain rules, which Newey said are "more complex than ever before".
Agreed Alain Prost, Renault ambassador: "We have three engine manufacturers, and none of them are particularly optimistic.
"Reliability is the biggest challenge at the moment, to be honest," he added.
Mercedes' Toto Wolff, however, is excited.
"A month ago I was in Maranello and saw their engine factory and thought: 'German engineering ingenuity against Italian improvisation and French laissez-faire'."
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa, however, is most concerned about the 'show'.
"Yes, it could be very frustrating to have to save fuel," said the Brazilian at Suzuka.
"I just hope it can be interesting to watch for the spectators and viewers and that it can also be interesting for the drivers," he added.
