The Williams F1 team announced this morning that Pat Symonds will join the team as Chief Technical Officer next month, replacing Mike Coughlan, who has left the team with immediate effect.
Over Symonds career he has enjoyed much success, most significantly with Benetton with Michael Schumacher, and when the team became Renault with Fernando Alonso. Most recently, since 2011 he has been a technical consultant to the Marussia team. Symonds will start with Williams on August 19th.
Sir Frank Williams said, "I'm delighted that Pat is joining the team. His technical capabilities and sporting successes speak for themselves and I'm sure that his knowledge and leadership will contribute considerably to the success that all of us at Williams are working hard to achieve."
Pat Symonds said, "Williams is a team steeped in success and engineering excellence and I'm honoured to be asked to play a role in returning the team to its rightful place at the pinnacle of Formula One. Sir Frank, Mike and Claire have put in place the foundations for success and I'm immensely excited to begin this new challenge."
The move was spurred by the team's lack of competitiveness with this year's chassis.

Might not be too far from the truth. Strong indication that Kimi might be returning to Ferrari.

Alot of investment firms moved to Union City area after 9/11, they're the important silent ones that will prevent the NJ race from happening. Too much disruption for their operations, and their money is far more than anything the race could maybe make.

Sebastian Vettel: What is it like to be the German's team-mate?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/23259028
Very candid conversation with Sebastien Bourdais who drove along side Vettel 2008-9.
As drivers I still rate Vettel slightly higher than Alonso, I'm in the minority here but IMO Vettel is more a complete driver overall.

I believe Vettel is an exceptional talent for sure but I lean more towards Alonso because in a car quite a bit inferior to the RBR machine, he's managed to bother Vettel quite a bit the last couple seasons. I guess the only way you'd ever know was if they were both on the same team.

Silly Season's crazy end? http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns26281.html
Raikkonen back to Ferrari, which ticks off Alonso (because Alonso is a crybaby). Forcing Alonso back to Lotus?

I saw that story this morning-like Alonso said, if you guys didn't have anything to speculate on, you wouldn't have anything to write.

That's why it's the silly season. I don't think Alonso will move to Lotus if Raikkonen rejoins Ferrari. It could be explosive if true, like Alonso vs. Hamilton at McLaren a few years ago.
