I think it must be that f1.com is not yet updated

It's on the official Formula1.com site:

....

2012 FORMULA 1 AIRTEL INDIAN GRAND PRIX (New Delhi) 26 - 28 Oct
2012 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX (Yas Marina) 02 - 04 Nov
2012 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX (Austin) 16 - 18 Nov

I looked this morning and the "In Detail" tab under Races has the USGP, but if you click on the 2012 calendar it's not there. I think it's still linked to the 2011 calendar. At least it is on my work comp.

I don't think so, but it sure would be interesting if he can get the Lotus up front.

Vitaly Petrov has hit out again at his 'pay-driver' label, insisting even the highest-paid driver on the grid has a similar arrangement with his team.

"I see no difference between myself and (Fernando) Alonso," said the Russian, who has moved his lucrative backing from Renault (now Lotus) to the Caterham team for 2012.

His new appointment is controversial, given he has ousted the experienced veteran and former Monaco winner Jarno Trulli, who was the last Italian in F1.

Comparing himself with Alonso, Petrov told La Stampa newspaper: "Everyone knows that he is funded by the money from (Ferrari sponsor) Banco Santander.

"Anyway, you only get to F1 because of talent."

And Petrov, 27, insists he does not feel sorry for Trulli.

"Life is hard," the Italian newspaper quotes him as saying.

He admitted that having friends in F1 is impossible, while making some comments that will also not endear him to the sport's Italian followers.

Asked to explain the rare absence of Italians on the grid, Petrov criticized the country's junior categories and added: "Your drivers lack the passion."

And as for Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo's complaints about the dramatic role being played by aerodynamics in F1 at present, he responded: "When you're not winning, it's easy to complain."

Petrov, however, lived in Italy in his past, revealing that his favorite elements of Italian life are "the food and the girls."

But on the latter, he does not expect to be wheel-to-wheel with the opposite sex any time soon.

"They do not have the physical ability and also are not prepared for the high speeds. But everything in life is possible," said Petrov.
It's refreshing to hear some honest opinions.

Wow, I guess Petrov is reinventing himself from the lanky Russian being managed by a mom to the Evil Russian stereotype.

I think Kimi will do as well as the car can provide and then some. Look at Schumi when he returned: his car wasn't so good so he wasn't able to put it too far up the ladder. But Kimi has always been able to ring out more than the car's potential like Alonso, so I'm pretty confident he can fight.

But the first race hasn't even started and so he might be last, he might be first, we'll just have to wait and see

It's all about money in F1. F1 is a bottomless money-burning pit.

I'm pretty sure that tomorrow's qualifying-run order will be vastly different than these practice-run orders.

McLarens are fast. Great job by Grosjean. What happened t Vettel? It looks like he made a mistake on his last lap. Mercedes looks quick as well. Ferrari needs alot of work. HRTs did not qualify.
Can't wait to see how the cars go in race conditions.

Damn Button really did look unbeatable all race and deservedly finished 1st.

Funny how both Caterhams went out with steering issues. Looks like Raikkonen had a good comeback for his first race.

Well I think after Petrov had his steering issue, they retired Kovi on purpose to make sure nothing goes wrong on his too, out of caution.

Kimi really looked like he never lost it after 2 years away. That safety car really hurt him, but not as much as the mixup during Quali.

Till next week!

Does this mean Kimi is better than M.Schumacher when considering reentry into F1 after a long absence ?

McLaren looks really good for this year. Vettel must be pretty pleased to get second. On the podium, Button and Vettel looked very happy, while Hamilton seemed dejected. I wouldn't say that McLaren is unbeatable, as Vettel was clearly faster at the end of the race. If Red Bull can improve their qualifying speed, they can beat McLaren.

Raikkonen did much better than I expected. There seems to be alot of competitive cars this year.

Screwderia Ferrari needs alot of work. As usual, Alonso is making the car look good. What was that move by Massa about?

If he's gonna go out of the sport at the end of the year, might as well be in big bang style, no?

I wonder where alonso would have qualified if he never got beached.

Ferrari seemed horrible up till the race.

We're gonna see some good competition this year.

Fights between, Mclaren, Red Bull, Mercedes, Lotus-Renault, and Ferrari. I dont expect this championship to be decided till the last couple races. If not the last.

I'll throw caution to the wind and add Williams to that 3rd tier group. The car looked good in race trim, Maldonado looked pretty scrappy taking on Aloso for 5th place. Too bad he took the kurb a little too much on the last lap. Good to see a improved Williams in the field.

Pretty good commentary on the Ferrari drivers and the current situation.

FWIW, Gary Anderson used to be F1 car designer (Jordan, Jaguar,..) and has very interesting insight into the tech side of the sport.

That Williams doesn't look that bad. It had a sense of flow, unlike the step noses, which looks like it ran into a wall.

Why you hatin' on my Scuderia? I'd agree with the premise Williams should be in the 3rd tier. Hell, Maldonado was battling for 5th against Alonso! (Is that why you rank Ferrari in the same group?)

It's the engine, man . . . . .

The previous Cosworth powerplant was a piece of junk. Even if the Williams chassis were better than RBS in the previous years, the Cosworth engine would still let the team down.

Now with a more decent Renault powerplant, the Williams is finally able to make a statement.

Williams looked good. Edward might be spot on with the Cosworth vs. Renault powerplant. There were comments last year that Williams was hampered by the Cosworth engine because it wasn't effective with the blown diffuser layout. It's interesting that Williams with its "pay drivers" were mixing it up with the so-called professionals in Melbourne.

The Renault motor will make a difference but it was far more than the engine, Sam Michaels and Patrick Head said so throughout last season. Aerodynamics, balance and mechanical grip affected the FW33. Power is important but considering RBR has just won their second WDC/WCC in a row with not the best motor on the grid indicate how important aerodynamics and chassis is in F1.

How important chassis is? Compare F1 cars with the same motor (McLaren & Mercedes, Saber and Ferrari, Renault and RBR,...).

Two reason i think Williams did well at the first race was Sam Michaels and Patrick Head are gone and Mike Coughlan was brought in. Coughlan brings alot of experience from his McLaren days, then got sacked due to the Spygate sage

I'm pretty sure that Coughlan would have used the vast experience he gained from the successful McLaren team, and applied it liberally in the current Williams F1 cars.

mainly because hamilton is awesome in the wet!

Ohh man remember the battle between raikonnen and hamilton in the rain the year raikonnen left. That was good.
