I'm not saying it's a conspiracy, but it was plainly obvious people didn't like how Ferrari dominated and there was no passing. Guess what, the rules have changed and there still isn't any passing. I don't know if they were expecting it to be like Nascar or something. Racing should be about having the best car and the fastest driver on the track. Keeping costs down should have nothing to do with handicapping a driver.
Rant over.

Wow, you mean when someone went in to refuel?
How exciting!
Prost vs. Senna, Michael vs. Hill, now those were races, those were BATTLES!
I used to sit in front of the TV with sweaty palms watching them go at it until the last meter. Now it's about "oh, he needs 5.5 seconds of fuel, which should be enough til the end of the race. He should maintain his 30 second lead"
It's not even about racing anymore, like it used to be.

Now F1 has nothing to do with being the fastest driver, it's all about the damn car. That engine rule is ridiculous too. What the hell does that have to do with the freaking race. All these rules were put in place to basically handicap Ferrari.

the tire rule i'd prolly like to see change purely because of safety....other rules can stay. Perhaps 2 race tires or whatever.

Why can't they make it one qualifying sesion on Saturday? I mean that was perfect! One hour/12 laps for each driver. It really put the top drivers/cars to the front.
What was wrong with having 3 or 4 sets of tires per race? These guys get tens of millions dollars per year, what's 3 sets of tires gonna save? It's not gonna save lives, that's for sure.

It just adds to the racing equation. Good drivers will be able to make a difference by preserving their tires well.
So far, the goal has been met with tires: Some teams/drivers lost positions due to bad tire management, while others gained from it.
I actually like that disposition.
It would be interesting that tires would also be given the same two race rules as the engines.

I agree with Sauceman. A good driver or real champion should make the most out of the tires and not flat-spotting them during the race. This is the same as brakes and clutches (used back in the old days with manual tranny). If good drivers know the brakes are overheating or pads are worning out, they will try to conserve them to last the whole race.

Perserving tires takes away from the fun factor. I wanna see fast laps, not someone going slow because they want their tires not to blow.
What's next? Are they gonna ban re-fueling so that the drivers who have the best MPG win?

Bring things back to last year and 2003, and drivers hardly made any difference. It was all about the cars they were in. And it was oh so predictable and boring. The only interesting races were those driven in the rain, because then the driver made a really big difference, and the win was really up for grabs.
This year at least, you can see the men from the boys. And Kimi ain't one so far. Neither is Ralf, J-P or Webber.

How fun is that?

I'm sorry, I don't find any appeal in having people passing each other while they're in the box refueling. Like I said, look at the mid 90s when the races were so much fun to watch. Now it's about who has more thread left on their tires.

And back in the day when fuel stops were not allowed, making pit stops mostly useless, you had a bunch of drivers who were almost coasting at times to save up on gas.
What fun was there then too? When they started allowing pit stops is when the pace really started picking up for the complete races, because then the pilots could drive harder for longer. And it also added a lot to strategy.
So basically, if we went back to single full tanks per race, we'd either shorten the race, or we'd have a whole bunch of guys not able to race...during a race!

No, go back 10 years and let the Championship be decided by less than 10 points while seeing lots of overtaking ON the track, especailly for first place.
I'm not saying I liked how it was a couple of years ago or last year, but it's not as fun as it used to be 10 years ago.
Sometimes I watch the older races and actually enjoy it more than today's races.
