Canadian GP meet up?
OK, there is obviously an abundance of F1 fans that live on the East coast around this forum, why don't any of you other than West and myself, ever go to the race? It'd be a lotta fun to meet up with you guys.

Because I'm poor.
I'll definitely go to the Weehawken race next year, if it happens.

The first year I went to F1 and met up with I was a broke student and spent just about every dime I had to go (newly out of university).
I'm sure some of you guys could find a way and make it work. Start planning for next year.

Just wait until you get kids. You farthest you will get to travel is the diaper run.

but i'm gonna be going to grad school gonna have like zero money! Well actually I'll be in debt...
Can you give me a rough estimate on how much you guys spend in Canada including hotel and all that good stuff. I know prices vary all the time but I have no clue what the ball park would be like.

Best time to go.
So I said to my wife (after reading this thread), "Let's go to Montreal."
"Why?"
"Car race. Montreal's great, like a European city in Canada."
"I want to go to Austin."
"Austin?!?!?!"
"Yeah."
"OK!! There's a car race there too."

A friend of mine did some number-crunching, and it was about $500 for everything but grandstand seats, which are a few hundred on their own I think.
$500 was for gas (5-6 hours one way), food, entrance, and hotel.

lol do it bearcat!!!
500 doesnt see bad, I'd def have to make sure there's a tv I can see from where I sit, dunno if every grandstand has that. Cause I dont just wanna watch my corner/straight

well, I can tell you which seats I won't be in for sure in Austin-the front straight seats across from the pits require buying a 5 year license, the cheapest license being (I think if memory serves) $15K plus the cost of the seat for 5 years with the cheapest seat being $1K. That's $20K for 5 races I can fly to Europe for 4 races at that rate, WTF.
