Anthony Davidson to drive for Super Aguri for 2007
from Autosport, http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/54884
thank gawd - Davidson gets a seat - and Aguri will at least have one person who knows how to drive next year, haha
Briton Anthony Davidson is on the verge of signing a deal to drive for the Super Aguri team in 2007.
Although the deal has not yet been signed, autosport.com understands the Honda driver is set to leave the Honda Racing squad to join the new Japanese outfit.
Davidson has been with Honda, formerly BAR, since the 2001 season, working as a test and third driver. He would partner Japanese driver Takuma Sato.
A source close to Davidson said: "It would be a great partnership. Taku and Davidson were teammates in F3 in 2001 and both would relish a reunion next year. It would be great for both of them."

This only makes sense, since there won't be a Friday 3rd driver rule next year. Davidson deserves a chance to show his skills during the race. However, I won't believe it until Aguri signs the deal.

I don't think the car will be crappy, but the team will still be crappy, so the results will likely be crappy, but not too crappy.
Aguri/Honda B Team>Toro Rosso/Ferrari B Team>Spyker/Ferrari C Team

Seriously though, I too doubt that Honda would provide Super Aguri with the same chassis as their own 2007 car on top of the engines they're getting. Wouldn't that lead to potential cannibalisation of points? Maybe if they give them a 2006-spec chassis, it might be possible.

Make no mistake, Super Aguri is basically Honda's B team. I doubt they would even be on the grid if not for Honda's support, financially and technically. Besides, the following was on the web a few days ago:
So by 2008, Super Aguri will run a 100% Honda car. The only question is what will happen next year. I suspect that when the SA07 comes out next year, it will look almost exactly like the Honda car. This is similar to what happened back in 1995~96, when the Ligier chassis was basically a carbon copy of the Benetton, because at the time, Ligier was controlled by Briatore and Walkinshaw, who were both running Benetton F1 at the time. At the time, there was quite a bit of controversy over the Ligier design, because other constructors claimed that the two cars looked too similar. Yet, somehow Ligier was able to convice the FIA that the two cars are technically different.
Super Aguri F1 has been negotiating for some months now in the hope that all of the Formula 1 teams would agree to change the Concorde Agreement to allow it to use cars built by the Honda F1 team in 2007. Super Aguri argued that if the engine regulations are coming a year ahead of schedule it is logical to do the same with chassis. This proposal was accepted by all but one team - believed to be Spyker MF1 - which argue that such a deal would give Super Aguri a performance advantage in comparison to the now-Dutch team. The only way that Spyker MF1 would agree to the idea was if everyone agreed that TV money should be shared between 12 teams rather than 10. That would mean that everyone would have to take less money and, funnily enough, no-one was overwhelmed with the idea of such a generous gesture and so Super Aguri will have to build its own car once more and wait until 2008 to get its chassis from Honda F1.
The big question that remains to be answered is how Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso are going to create two cars without someone challenging the team over the design. There is no doubt that Red Bull will have some argument ready for such a challenge and little doubt that the FIA will accept that argument - because the Austrian drinks company would be mad to have gone this far down the line without some form of confirmation from Paris that its plans are fine.

Umm, "gets to" FC?? More like HAS to. I have very limited hopes for this team. Such a waste of talent to have Ant in anything but a top tier team.

SA will launch their 2007 car right before the first race.

Can't believe the 2007 season is right around the corner again. I hope I can attend a couple of the European races this year or at the very least, Montreal again. Terrific atmosphere!
