"The Parking Lot GP" I can hardly wait! Yesterday my bro said ticket sales are down from last year, it would be great if it died and went away, BS race.

The big question is if they will still put in that fake marina.

It's a parking lot disguised as an "autodrome."

Really curious how many tickets are unsold this week. Looking at the Miami GP ticket website, it seems that there are very few seats left in the grand stands. Dunno if that means scalpers bought them.
I really feel like F1 isn't looking at the long game. They are going to price themselves out before they can establish a market.
Back in the day when I went to CART races all across the country, I noticed that you got three types of people going to races. You had the dedicated race fans that went to middle of nowhere tracks (Brooklyn, Mid Ohio), you had the casual fan that decided to try a race that showed up in their city (Detroit, Houston), and the people who went because of free corporate tickets. A lot of the casual and corporate people that showed up generally commented that it was cool, but they wouldn't come back probably unless it was a free ticket or essentially free. I'm afraid that F1's greed will kill off the new/casual fans by pricing them out before they can become a race fan.

The tickets for COTA are dramatically higher than they were when we went in 17 & 18
Dissuades me from going, especially when it was hard getting around at about 80% capacity those years & has sold out the last couple, to the extent that they've added extra grandstands.
Still for free Vegas tickets, need to follow up on that.

Yeah prices in the states are ridiculous, especially when you compare grandstand seats at a European race.

WTF1 did a comparison on ticket prices in the off-season, and it was pretty surprising how 'cheap' F1 can be in Europe.
IIRC, the 2 years we went, it was about $1k all-in, 3 day grandstand tickets, AirBnB, parking, and some merch.

I've been going to the Canadian GP every year since 1989 except for 3 years. Gold seating across from the pits was mid-300's (Cdn.) when we started going. This year our tickets at Turn 1 were $1000 Cdn. but they're in a hospitality area with nice seating vs. bench seating with zero elbow/leg room. Monaco was $350 for one day in the Rascasse grandstand and the same for the grand stand at the swimming pool complex. I don't remember what tickets cost in Italy but I do remember at Indy, 2000, the GA ticket for two days was $50. Cheeeeep

Yeah I saw the same thing re ticket sales. This is a BS race for sure.
The last year I went to Montreal and met up with you the tickets down at the hairpin were $400. Did you see there is a Lance Stroll Grandstand . Are you in the Platinum GS that is covered and on the inside of the track? Those look like pretty cool seats.

No, we are in front of Grandstand 12 (turn 1) outside of the track. I've sat in Platinum ("Platine") stands twice and they're nice. There's a back on them so if it's blowing/raining you don't feel it if the weather is coming from the city towards the track. Individual seats with a drink holder right atop the track.

Ferrari are in the weeds, why did I think otherwise and change my pick? Cuz I'm an idiot that's why!

Right there with you., though the Ferrari pick netted me more points than my original Aston choice.
