The week I missed did "save" me a driver & team pick, but I paid the price with a 0 for that week. In the long run, I doubt that can be a positive.

You should volunteer to run the league next year. Then you can add that.
I've thought about it too and would not be opposed to a Bonus distribution (next year) amongst 1, 2 & 3. Also a point if your driver gets pole or fast lap.
I'm for anything that keeps more people in it right to the very end.

I'm open to suggestions for extra points.
*Payouts for starting grid positions. 10 for pole, 9 for second, 8, 7, 6, ...
*Four pick limits for teams, rather than three.
*Points for picking an extra driver that improves his position the most in a race.

naaah. My dog would never hold a Vettel #1 sign, maybe Alonso, but not Vettel. That's not meant as a jab at Vettel, he's a very talented driver who will surely go in the record books with more than 2 titles to his credit. When MS was 24 as Vettel is, he had 1 GP win to his name and look how far he went. Now if Seb was to drive a Ferrari, the story would be different for me.
