Under Armour (UARM) is IPO of the Week
Any thoughts? Originally, the price range was $7.50 to $9.50 a couple of weeks ago, but has jumped to $13 last night. I think it's still a good value.. Would love to jump in on it only if I had the connections.
Supposedly getting into shoes and all that soon.. But the most surprising thing that I learned from my roommates (one a former Marine Reserve, another currently in Air Force ROTC) was that Under Armour may become a supplier for the US military branches, with stores showing up in BXes.
Anyone know how fast IPOs hit the secondary market?

Uh... Under Armour has been in use in the military for a few years. I have several brown Under Armour shirts (Army here...
)
Yes, a good time to get it while it's hot I guess.

And they already make shoes but not many people know about them. Anyway, Under Armour is an amazing company. If I were ready to invest I would definitely consider this.

shit yea i didnt know people in here were interested. we were talkin about it on a stock thread over at e46fanatics
its got good value and good growth. pricing was at 13 last night and it entered the market this morning at like 31
i got in around high 24s, low 25s and used limit orders and stop loss to get all my orders filled on every small lil fluctuation/run up it made. sold off about half of it and just lettin the other half ride for free, should be a good company to follow in the long run
in order to have gotten in on the pre-ipo price and such you would have to have gone through the underwriter (goldman sachs and a few more) and even then those shares would be ridiculously hard to come by and im sure you had to buy a shitload

however, long term, i think this company has great potential... they have a lot of room to grow and markets to enter such as footwear and i know ive started seeing their stuff in soccer catalogues (as opposed to just like football and basketball). so they are starting to market to all sports and branch into new products so growth is definitely there, a key factor in determining its longevity.
id say wait this next month and see if you can buy-in on a dip. if so, youll save a few dollars... if not, it will only cost a few more dollars per share to still get in. ill have to check some of the specs on its current valuation, but overall, i think it will continue to head up slowly but surely.
and BstonBruin, if you want to get started investing online check out either www.ameritrade.com or www.scottrade.com . they are sites for online brokerages that let you invest on your own, or you can do so with the help of a broker if you chose (but more expensive).
my friends and i use both of those and have great things to say about both. personally, i use scottrade and its just $7 a trade and have had no problems with them. if you want referrals to either just let me know and you can get some free trades by using a referral.
