yep its true..i owe this year to federal...almost 1k...
this sucks ass!
i got $13.56 back from state

Owing is the best way, breaking even is #2.

Refund is like an interest free loan to the gov't.

Having said that, I can't wait to see what my refund will be this year!

For the first time in a decade I don't think I'll owe, I don't think I'll get anything back, but I think I have finally lost enough that the government will leave me alone... perhaps it was worth it!

This is the first time I won't owe. I had to pay in about $1500 last year and got $8 from state.

Well, the only good thing to come from all the 401K and investment losses everyone has endured is that most of the losses are deductible.



right? I have people, so I don't really know....

In general, if you sold a stock at a loss you can use it to offset gains on other stock. An unrealized loss is not deductable.
