Going over credit limit

Hey guys,

What's up? I have $5600 limit on my business card, and have a big online ad campaign running, and I forgot to stop it in time, and ended up hitting $6000 as of today. I paid it down to $4000 right now, and was charged a $29 over limit fee. I don't mind the fee too much, because I had a good ROI on the extra $400 spent.

My real concern is...Does going over a credit limit, look bad on the card? Also does it get reported/effect my overall credit score?

One time shouldn't be an issue.

Might not hurt to call and let them know what happened = best defense.

Your credit report usually will show the highest the balance ever was, as well as your credit limit. If it were me I would ask them for a credit line increase.

Although I have a business card for my little "adventure" and it doesn't show up on my personal report.

The fee doesn't show on the credit report, but the utilization (as mentioned, balance relative to line) does. Anything above 80% is deemed risky, admittedly though business credit works a little different than personal credit - may be a bit more flexible.

Definitely call to discuss a line increase if this is going to be a common occurrence, or consider making payments mid-cycle to reduce the overall outstanding debt, don't wait for the bill to come.
