They're everywhere here (Cali) too.
As of March 26, 2014, they only had 401 restaurants (168 company owned, 233 franchised) in 5 states (California, Nevada, Texas, Utah, and Arizona). 352 stores (88%) are in California alone. So there's growth potential, which is what people buying the stock are hoping for.
Considering where stock price is at now ($34.56), they severely under priced their IPO. And since they're using proceeds to pay off debt ($288.8 million), it can be said that they screwed up and missed out on a lot of money to pay off debt. They sold 7,142,857 shares at $15, raising $107,142,855
If they sold the 7,142,857 shares at $20 instead, they would have raised $142,857,140 (an extra $35,714,285)
If they sold the 7,142,857 shares at $25, they would have raised $178,571,425 (an extra $71,428,570)
Positives (+) and negatives (-) ?
+ Plan to grow stores 8%-10% annually (they think they can grow to 2,300 stores nationwide)
+ Had positive store comps during past 11 quarters
+ Had profit of $5.470 million ($0.19 EPS) during 13 weeks ended March 26, 2014 vs loss of $60,000 during 13 weeks ended March 27, 2013 ($0.00 EPS)
- Store comps have been flat to declining YoY over the past 5 quarters- Has $288.8 million in debt
- Slow store growth and zero expansion outside of core/existing markets- Thinks its main competitor is Chipotle
- Tried to expand east in 2009 by opening 12 locations, all of which closed in 2012
- Chicken competitor PLKI (Popeye's) has much better sales and growth
- 79% of stock (28,557,989 shares) are held by 2 private equity firms; If/when they decide to sell...
All of this can be found in their IPO filing --> http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/da...tm#rom714963_5

Grilled chicken with Mexican sides. More healthy than Popeyes and KFC IMHO. We get it carry out. Might be worth a shot but retail food has been having problems making money.

Chipotle is testing out its new Asian restaurant. I think chipotle is the restaurant stock to buy. If this new one kicks off like Chipotle did, the stock will for sure go up.

$11.24 -$1.92 (-14.58%) on earnings miss
The grilled-chicken chain posted earnings of 17 cents a share on $94.4 million in revenue. Analysts had expected earnings of 18 cents per share on revenues of $96.6 million, according to a consensus estimate from FactSet.
Although overall same-restaurant sales grew 0.7 percent, company-operated locations saw sales drop 0.6 percent during the quarter, due to a 0.8 percent decrease in traffic. Franchise restaurants, however, saw comparable sales grow 1.8 percent.
