I hear Boeing stock is still worth buying even at $49. Truth or evil lies?

For the debt that it has compared to cash, and a P/E ratio of 20, i'd say its a fair value:
Balance Sheet
Total Cash (mrq):
3.95B
Total Cash Per Share (mrq):
4.68
Total Debt (mrq)²:
14.02B

chartwise, looks like its gonna hit a 2 year high, dated back to mar 2002. It's already met its 47.42 1yr target and close to a 52 week high as well. Tough to see more headroom for growth here, unless theres a HUGE new contract bid of some sort that can prop it up. If you have shares already I would hold. But getting in would be too high of a price at the 52 week mark. Dividend payout doesn't look too bad, combine that with modest growth, and its decent.

meh...

I'd say it's a hold too. The airline industry isn't out of thwe woods yet. If a AA or Delta files chapter 11, or if United continues to have problems emerging from chapter 11 that's the catalyst investors will need to sell and get real stubborn with the stock.

I dunno... Aerospace is a good place to be. I just wouldn't put it in Boeing.

Just my $0.02

Boeing just signed a HUGE deal w/ the Navy. If I were you right now would be a good time to jump on it. The deal was in the ballpark of 30-40 million. I don't think it's been released to the public yet but my brother was a big part of the deal and said it was completed last week.

Good to be on the look out though, eyes and ears out in the field are always helpful.

technically the stock has been "bullish" in my opinion since about a year ago...50 weeks to be exact. of course different people read charts differently.

looking at JUST the P/E ratio, they aren't doing that well relative to the industry, right about the middle of the pack, but the PEG ratio, which arguably tells you more, is number 3 in the industry, which is pretty damn good.

a lot of their margins aren't as good as their competitors thoguh, for whatever reason (i am no aerospace & defense expert by any means). for example, their operating margin and gross margin are both about half the industry average, and they are expecting negative revenue growth.

regardless, anyone who looks at a chart can tell you their stock has been on the rise.

i would say it's a short term "neutral" and long term "buy".

Boeing is a premier aircraft maker, and very forward thinking. Unfortunately, Airbus is a very good competitor. Boeing's costs are high, and as compared to the last year in this quarter, they only sold one additional aircraft.

I would avoid Boeing.

As I hang around airports alot, being a CFI, I have noticed a trend of more frequent flights in smaller aircraft. This is not Boeing's forte. Boeing is large scale.

Yeah.

They were right up to a point. There was that recession 4-5 years down the road

That's why Warren Buffett's strategy of buy and hold longer term works best.
