hey.....there's a meet!! lets destroy it!!
Official 2008 DCMAX Meet - NWP Engineering Sponsored
Alright everyone, after the failed attempt to do a RCP meet this summer Aaron Kimball and myself set out to organize and plan what we hope to be a very successful and rather large meet with some surprises, new faces, and turnout from the entire east coast regional community here on the org and the DCMAX
The details are as follows
Date & Time:
September 27th, 11am - till dark/they kick us out
Hopefully this gives everyone enough time to work it into their schedules
Location:
Seneca Creek State Park
11950 Clopper Road
Gaithersburg, MD 20878
Pavilion Nutthatch
This location was picked because it can hold up to 200 people, has 50+ parking spaces, enclosed pavilion, play areas for the kids, open fiends/recreation areas for the adults. Not too mention every other regional park was booked in the area, and honestly with the turn out we are expecting the spaces at RCP aren't sufficient. It's not particularly close to any specific group and should provide for nice caravans, and perhaps even Bauer might show up considering it's all of 30min from his house
Food:
Much like RCP we'll ask for you guys to provide that. Well make a separate thread for the food list, much like Karim did with RCP.
Activities:
Our sponsor will provide a few of his products to give away, and perhaps a raffle if we can get a high enough participation from the community. As well as there will be an opportunity for you all to purchase his products (please work out those details with him before hand). Also there is Hiking and biking trails, boat rental, fishing, flatwater canoeing and kayaking available in case you all want to break from the group and go do that.
Cost:
Aaron and I have both contributed our own capitol to cover the shelter cover charges, we aren't making it mandatory, but would greatly appreciate it if people would donate to the cause (it's $200 for us to rent the space). Either via paypal, or just showing up with a couple of bucks. However, I stress that this isn't mandatory for attendance. Contact me for donations please.
Directions:
The park is located in Montgomery County. From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles on the left.
From points north, take I-270 south towards Washington, D.C., take Exit 11 (MD Route 124 west). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles on the left.
Who to contact:
Either myself - Bobbie Price/blprice2@gmail.com/301.672.8023
or Aaron Kimball/aaron@nwpengineering.com
Who's Invited:
EVERYONE! We are especially reaching out to the local community, but are going to try and get as many people up and down the east coast to attend (If JP's and John's trash talking, street battling rivals can behave themselves then they are welcome to come as well). Including a big push to get the guys from NYCMaximas.org to make the trek (we've already been in contact with the people there about it).
We are very much aware that this doesn't work out for everyone's schedule but hopefully it works out for enough of us to make it our biggest meet in years. This took a lot of planning on our parts and a lot of quick decision making in order to salvage something for this year, hopefully it will meet with everyone's approval. Do feel free to hit up Aaron or myself via pm, email or by phone for additional details, questions or concerns.
Thanks,
