Hey all, still looking for this vehicle if anyone has or knows of somewhere? There's a match in Ohio I believe with about 100k miles so I'm a little weary of that. Any thought, or anyone live near Cincinnati who wouldn't mind taking a look?

Above all else, I'm bumping my thread here because I didn't know which place to put this. I thought I had found a match from a dealership in MD, and when I first called the guy said the car was silver, until I said I'm only looking for blue and saw blue on their website. He kept telling me what great condition it was in. I asked him to send me some info and pics, he sent an illegible Carfax and nothing else, to which I emailed back what about specs I asked about and the pics.

This is his voicemail reply.

Figure I'd bump this as I'm still in the market - anyone in the Beloit, WI area? I'm looking at this listing but wouldn't buy from eBay unless I could drive the car/have it checked out first.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...item3cb95bccba

If someone wanted to check this car out for me and if all is good/I fly out to buy the car make $100, I'd be happy to work with someone here?

Otherwise, anyone else with the spec as noted above looking to sell?

Thanks, I'm looking into that one, he's reposted it on eBay, I guess no serious takers. But not being local to see the car, (and not having had my previous 05 TL make it to past 52k) I'm curious what other costs/maintenance should be expected on a 100k TL. I've essentially asked this in this thread but I'd be very open to others' advice and experience here. Thanks!

On that 04 TL 6MT, your looking at about 300-450 in parts and depending on who does the labor (200-1000) for the 105k service.

Look at switching out the tranny fluid to the GM friction modified fluid < 100.00.

Looks like he lowered the price some. Send him an email and tell him the 105k service is going to cost you around 1k. Make him an offer factoring this in.

Yep, planning to bring that up. As I'm used to the 05 I had versus this 04, I know there's a few minor changes, like the passenger detector for the airbag, some extra stitching on the front seat (is it a considerable difference or...?) and the seatbelt harnesses or something is a bit different. Anything else really different?

Also, the car I'm looking at is supposed to be an ASpec. Didn't that mean it had the two-tone leather steering wheel as well? Or was that not the case with the 04? Here is his picture of the one-tone steering wheel -

The 04's had a butt print issue with their seats. The 05 received more stitching. The 04 has a different Acura emblem on the airbag. The ASPEC steering wheel for the 04-06 TL is this:

Some cars came from the factory with the full kit (18 x 8.5 wheels, steering wheel, front, side and rear spoiler, suspension and emblem). AT models came with ASPEC brake pads. The 6MT obviously has Brembos. Seems to me the only thing missing is the steering wheel.

Thanks for the pic and info. Yea, the guy said the original owner paid for the ASpec to be put on at the dealership, I suppose why it's everything but the steering wheel (although not sure how I'd know about the suspension without taking things apart). I remember something of a buttprint forming on my 05 with 52k miles, but this 04 w/ 105k doesn't seem to have it w/ his pics. And he's said all the leather is in good condition, no real rips, cracks, etc. I would clean my seats with Coach leather cleaner (admittedly not enough) so I'll have to ask what he's done.

Anything other major differences 04 to 05 that haven't been discussed?

Posting here again, still yet to buy the replacement....

But might be getting something local. I've been steering clear of higher mileage or 'too good to be true' offers I've seen out there, but I recently I found and test drove an 04 with no navi, ~140k miles, but aesthetically very good (except a couple parts to replace) and drives well.

See here for 2 walkaround videos (I'd lower the volume, but at one point the seller does say "I wanted this car to perform, and to drive like a sports car, like what it's meant for".
  • 4th gear grinds when shifting into it at higher RPMs.
  • Minor work to be done, by self likely.
  • All wheels have been replaced and look alright, which owner says was due to curb damage on originals.
  • Will be getting an Acura $100 inspection, etc before anything.

Ultimately I'm juggling this purchase for a little under $8000, knowing I'll need to throw about $1000 back in ASAP.

Thoughts?

Wow...$8K...that's a friggin steal for a TL IMO. I know they're getting old but MAN.

About the $100 inspection...better to get one from a mechanic with nothing to lose, no?

About aspec...I speak from experience, the very early 04's (I mean end of year 03's) that were true aspec were originally called sport models and came with everything but the badge and the stitched steering wheel. I know, I have one.

Have yet to purchase, getting an inspection tomorrow or Sat, and don't have a mechanic I can trust in the area which is why I'm figuring Acura should do me right - as long as I pay them their $120.... grrrr.

Not sure how early this model is, any way to tell exactly if it's sport? Obviously it's the standard wheel without stitching, but still not 100% sure. Anything else to keep an eye out for with this early model (again, I used to own a 2005).

Thanks all!

Ultimately I'm really trying to find out - in the next 50,000 miles, what service should I expect to be doing? How much more am I going to put into this in the next couple years?

Is it a really bad idea to be getting this car with 140,000 miles?
