Would I need to get these tires stretched?
I was just given a great deal for the rims Ive been waiting on. Im trying to save atleast $600, so that I wont have to buy new tires. I was told over the phone by a CarID representive that I would need "225/35/20" to fit those 20' Inch rims. Would I need to get these tires stretched to fit these rims? If not, whats the process to get these tires to fit?

the problem is....the overall rolling diameter of these tires are not the same as what came stock on your car.
what that means is your speedometer will be off, therefore causing mileage to be off.
it never pays to buy something because it was cheap and you already had exisiting hardware...it ONLY causes MORE troubles.
sell your 20" tires and buy new 20" tires that fit

Well I dont want any problems like that. To make sure Im understanding you correctly, youre saying the speedometer would say Im going 60mph but In actuality Ill be moving 65mph? ..or something along that sense. Id rather avoid any unwanted issues and spend the extra $600 on new tires with warranties Included.

So from what Im understanding, It dosent matter what 20' Inch tires I put on. Judging by the picture, Ill be going slower than the odometer reading In my vehicle when I put 20's on the car anyway?
So In that sense, I should just use the tires I already have?
I aplogize for all my noobish questions, as your speaking to someone who Isnt a mechanic.

there are correct ways to do things and there are less correct, more sloppy ways to do things.
I'm showing you the math to get you to lean towards the correct way of putting on wheels and tires.
now, you don't have to follow this "correct" way.
you can do whatever you please.
If you want to keep the tires you already have, go right ahead!
I aint stoppin you, I'm merely pointing you in a general direction. it will be up to you to further research all your options

Saying the 20s will throw off the speedo so might as well throw it off more is the incorrect way to look at it.
If your speedo is off by 1 mile after a day then after a year your milage could be off 360 miles. But if your speedo if off by 2 miles after a day then at the end of that year you will be 720 miles off instead of 360.
If you are going to be off you want to be off by as little as possible because over time it adds up.
Take it from a guy that has 3 sets of wheels and 3 sets of tires, only 2 sets of which are mounted. You are better off saving or selling those tires and waiting to get new tires that fit correctly. In the end if shit hits the fan, you have a back of set of tires they may not be ideal but they work in a worst case scenario.

Some cars do have the ability to have their computers reprogrammed for non-standard tire sizes; I do not know if the ILX has this ability or not.
