205/50r17 VS 225/55r17 tires?

I have a 16 ILX with stock tires of 205/50r17. I have a chance to get a great deal on a set of snow tires and rims but the tires are 225/55r17. Will there be any problems using the bigger tires? TIA...

I see they're 2 1/2 more diameter and .9" wider. and the speedo is off not enough to worry about. I'm more worried about the snow getting packing in the wheel well. Guess there's only one way to find out!

I thought all 2016 ILX came stock with 215/45-17 tires. Is yours some kind of special edition?

I thought all 2016 with 17" tires came stock with 215/45-17. Is yours some special edition? I would love to have had the taller sidewalls to better deal with the terrible roads around here.

Potential problem is probably more in the clearance department than in speedo issues, which can be taken care of by mental calculation or a reprogram. Your stock tire, as mentioned above, is supposedly 215.45.17, about 24.6" in diameter. The 225.55.17 is about 26.7" tall. Your speedo will read about 8% slow. That's 5.6 MPH @ 70.

Any tire shop like DT or TR can give you a pretty good idea if those will clear. The final test is put them on the car before purchase to see.

no, just the base model. According to tire rack 205 is the stock size.

Better double check your tires. I just checked Acura USA website and it shows 215/45-17 tires standard on all but Aspec models, which have 215/40-18. As for Tire Rack they have been known to publish incorrect info. Anyone else have 205-17 on their 2016 ?
