Seat belt chimes

Hi All, Newbie here and have to learn the ropes so bear with me if I'm posting this in the wrong spot. We take a lot of long highway trips and sometimes I need to unfasten my seat belt for a short distance just so I can move around a little. The constant reminder chime can be very annoying if only for several minutes. Is there a way to change the seat belt chime warning system where it will stop after a while?...or at least a way to change the volume ? Thanks

No.

But it does stop after a while.

Thanks for the response and could you clarify. I also thought that the chimes would go away after a while, but we've let them go for at least 15 - 20 minutes and they still didn't shut off. Can you give a good idea of how long it takes ? This is a 2019 ILX with premium package. Thanks

Well, now that I think about it, I never really tested to see if it ever stopped for good. But I never have my seatbelt off for very long. The only time I take my seatbelt off is when I'm on my street and approaching the house. So I don't have a good answer for you. You could also jam something in the receptacle so it thinks you're belted in.

So, you're asking for assistance to break federal laws? I would much rather have a sweet Japanese lady voice tell me, "You going to get ticket or die fool, buckle up." Seriously though, if you must, just disconnect the chime.

I have a habit of taking my seatbelt off when I pull into my street, even though my house is still about a quarter mile away. The chime goes off, the voice says its thing, and then the beeping stops. I've never kept the belt off long enough for the chime to restart. But any other time I'm driving the car, I'm belted in.

At highway speeds is the absolute worst time to take off a seat belt and I would highly recommend you do not.

However that being said I did see a trick a cabbie used once... Pick up a separate metal seat belt from a junkyard and put it into your car this will trick the system. Or use a seat belt extender.
