Acura ILX 2016 battery upgrade

Has anyone upgraded their battery to a deep-cycle battery? I’m trying to solve a recurring problem where the battery runs low when I don’t drive very often (since I retired). My parking garage doesn’t have outlets for trickle chargers.

I bet it's your bluetooth. There is a known Acura issue with the bluetooth draining the batteries and I believe there is a class action lawsuit out about it now...you could turn off your bluetooth and see if that helps.

every car has a parasitic draw, if you leave it sitting for any amount of time disco one of the terms. You could switch out for a yellow top bat and that would give you more reserve, that's what I did right after i came home with the car new as I installed hardwired a 650S blackview dash-cam

Just keep in mind that Honda designed the charging system to save fuel, so it won't charge the car enough on short 10 min drives. You'll slowly be draining the battery. Just think how much it drains on a cold start to how much it gets charged back up on a short drive. So if this keeps happening plus the car sitting equals a nice dead/ low powered battery.

another option would be to do a simple wire in of a trickle charger. you can plug that in when the car is sitting. just don't drive off with it still plugged in. Ive seen doedoe heads do that more then once.

the Bluetooth issue is just low power messages flooding the error maintenance menu, it's not draining the battery. do what i said above and you'll be fine. stock battery is crap anyways

I ended up replacing my stock battery with an Optima Yellowtop 51R battery.... all problems now solved.
Maybe Honda/Acura should offer a deep-cycle battery option... especially for areas with freezing winter temperatures.

Antigravity came out with a new line that would be perfect for that type of issue. It auto disconnects and maintains enough to start.

The Antigrav batteries are nice but $600 is too much. Can a Group 35 or 24f battery fit in the 51r OEM battery location without modifications?
