I love this car...But

I do adore this car but it is driving me nuts not being able to find performance parts haha, So have been searching around here have varied replies, I want the sound deeper especially in high rpm, I saw the post for the RV6a downpipe I may try that but I am waiting for a video or someone to show some results and what they have noticed with it. I would like to add a CAI anyone have one that they have noticed a deeper sound more dare I say.. vtecey? anyone see any updates also for ktuned? saw that post but no update on when the 16+ will get their tune. Its maddening. I did reach out to hondata and sadly they have no plans to support/tune the 16+ ilx. hopefully this is not to beat to death just looking for some conversation regarding the car miss the good ole forum threads.

Thank you to everyone in advance.

what do you expect from a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder that didn't sell well?

modding is experimental. especially exhaust sounds. you NEVER know what you'll get sound-wise until you bolt on the part. then, if you dislike the sound, you either fine-tune it by adding more parts....or you go back to stock. it's all experimental.
same thing for intake sound..
and if the big tuners say they are not interested in tuning your model, then so be it. can't do anything about that.

I don't know if a tune would make a huge difference if you didn't have any bolt-ons - even if Ktuner began supporting 2016+ ILX's.

Aftermarket support comes with increased demand which correlates with a cars popularity. Being that the ILX wasn't a huge seller and is going to be discontinued, it's likely going to be difficult to find much aftermarket support - now or in the future.

I am not expecting bounds of power added, just trying to feel out options. We all always want more. I wasn't saying it as if they owed us something just unfortunate I suppose wasn't trying to come off as complaining or negative I apologize if that's how it came off.

i dont think you came off as complaining.
there are reasons why there is no aftermarket support, that's all.

also, there are reasons why a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder wont gain power from bolt-ons.
just realize what you have. a pretty car that is good on fuel.

That is true, I suppose I just want to hear it a little more haha. I do understand the lack of support being I work at an Acura dealer it is obviously not their best selling car.

when I purchased my car, I was specifically looking for a 6MT six cylinder sport-luxury car with 250-300hp.
I looked at a whole bunch of G35's and G37's. really really wanted RWD. My point being, I was looking for a sporty car to begin with..

I suspect you werent looking for a car to modify when you bought your car. you bought your car because of the herritage/name of Acura and it's little 4 cylinder that sips fuel. ain't nothing wrong with that! just there are limitations on what you can do to the car in terms of performance, looks, and general souping-up of the ILX.

You could drop some weight. Spare tire, engine plastics, stuff like that. If you're able to spend $1200-$1500, some lightweight wheels would go a long way. Dropping 3-7 lbs. per corner has a huge impact.

The benefit of a poorly selling car is that you get great deals on it. All the cars I own now were poor sellers. Bought them all new for way below invoice.

Well technically the ilx a 9th generation civic. I’m assuming we can use parts from a civic si for our car. Idk I’m not a mechanic but I’ve been looking around & that’s what it seems like to me.

Now that KTuner stepped up, we may start seeing more interest.

Yes, I came across that recently, I am excited about that. Now we have some more exhaust to play with and a tune! Hondata themselves wont do it I am glad someone has, they also said a turbo one may be in the works. So that is cool. I know it wont be a race car just sometimes want that little more as we all tend to.

I would really like to add a turbo, but I'm a bit concerned with the strength of the transmission.
From what I've read, the dry dual clutch won't hold the torque that a wet clutch system can take, tho I'm sure the torque converter softens the shock.

Yeah, Maxbore does stuff like that. I had the throttle body on my 3G bored by them and purchased a set of intake runners for my 4G from a member on here that had Maxbore do a job on them. Both were done very well - mirror like finish, super smooth and even.

It's certainly not a night and day difference. It's one of those things that adds very little in terms of power but as you do little things here and there, can add up to noticable gains.

how much was it? And I assume I’d have to give them my current throttle body or body an OEM throttle body and have them bore it out?

Yes, unfortunately you'd have to give them your current TB. So unless you had some sort of spare, or purchased a different one to send them, then sold your old one, you'd be out a car for a while.

They charge $125. Not cheap for minor gains unfortunately. I'd only recommend it if you plan on keeping the car for a good long time.

one more question. Should I just bore stock or wait until I do a RBC intake switch out? Does the RBC intake even fit with stock throttle body or do I have to get an aftermarket with RBC?

Does an RBC work on a '16+ with the intake on the firewall side?

though there's not ALOT of performance parts to add ponies. Can't go wrong with lowering springs/ thicker bars/ gripper tires/lighter wheels.
Not the best platform out there for power performance, but certainly a sleek car and fun to drive
