2013 ILX-suspension upgrades?

Hello, All!
New member here, with a 2013 ILX 2.4L 6MT. There's a lot to love about this car, but the suspension is certainly on the soft side. So, I'm looking to firm it up a bit, but not so much that daily driving over speed bumps and potholes becomes intolerable. Also, I do not want to lower the car, which rules out most spring or coilover upgrades.

I've upgraded the rear swaybar with the Eibach, which seems to help with body roll. Now, I'd like to get rid of the underdamped feeling.

Are there any performance shock/strut options for the ILX? I could not find much other than the KYB rears --which might be worth a shot---but is there any upgrade for the front struts, short of springs and coilovers?

Thanks for any advice.

Honestly there isnt much you can do. any spring set up you go with will be stiffer. I would keep the oem shocks if there isnt much miles on them.

Thanks for the info, visi-d. I was hoping that with all the Civic Interchangeability, there would be more options. Alas, twas not to be.

I have a 2015 k24 ilx and i went with the tein s-tech springs on oem struts. Installed an oem SI rear sway bar and i really like how it drives. I daily drive mine and its nothing unbearable.

Same - i have a 2017 with H&R's on OEM. it rides pretty good for a daily. I really have to watch out for potholes & driveways as i bottom out very quickly.

Thanks, Neildam. That's a useful datapoint. Bottoming out is a big concern for me (my driveway is very sloped!), so lowering springs is probably not the direction I want to go.

If you check out my old car "MY 2013 BUILD" you will see my car coming out of my driveway was pretty close, and my driveway was a little steep. I used the Tien progressive springs. I believe H & R have a little less of a drop but is still about 1".

Good luck - Loved the manual shifter in 2.4L

1)You can add the front Eibach sway bar and 2)look around for the mildest drop 2014 Civic Si springs, and then 3)add the front lower tie bar, and then 4) rear lower tie bar, various brands. Then you could also 5)add rear lower control arms, various brands. You can get them urethane bushings so its not super stiff, or if you go with 6)Skun2 they will be metal bushing rear control arms, and thats more of a full "race" feel. Thats about it. You can also 7)add front camber bolts and 8)get way better tires, at least when your stock tires wear out make sure to upgrade, that is HUGE on this car. Stock rubber is boring on this car, although very dependable and decent lasting. I looked into adding a front strut brace, may eventually have one custom built, but theres none available for SI that fits ILX. Also looked at getting some other suspension stuff, there really was pretty much nothing else. But Maybe I forgot something. it's late and i'm just messing around online, so I may remember something else later on. That should be enough for now tho.

im on eibach prokit, only a 1.2"drop, with truhart sport shocks. Rides very nice. Not super bouncy nor too stiff. And the truhart shocks are cheap. Think the set is like $220 or something like that. Also have truhart rear camber arms and a rear Progress anti-sway bar 22mm. Maybe Im just used to the ride now cause still kinda feel some bodyrolling going on lol, but when I first got the rear sway bar upgrade it felt amazing around everything.

so I’m wondering where to find the true hart shocks? I was in there website and it would appear that they only have shocks for the 2017 ILX? Thanks.

I found them. When you installed the shocks did the car lower any more?
im already on the Eibach kit and don’t think I want to go any lower. Also did you do the front and rear? I’m kinda on the Fence about don’t the rear as well. The kit is only sold in sets.
thanks.

So, shocks aren't suppose to lower it anymore,
That being said, I was on the stock shocks with eibach prokit for about 18 months before I got the truhart shocks installed all around.
After install, my tires started to rub on certain bumps for some reason, Im thinking the shocks did lower it another 1/8"or something cause I never use to rub before.
Was on 18x8.5 +35mm with 225/40/18 tires, made a rim change to 18x8s +35mm with same tire size and rubbing stopped,
After about 18 months with that setup, decided to switch up the rims and go back to 18x8.5 but +38mm offset and zero rubbing now. lol
But roughly over 2 years with the eibach prokit/truhart setup, Still feels nice.

right on. All supper good info.
I doubt 1/8 of inch will kill it for me. I’m still on the stock rim. Which I believe is 17”. Every place that carries TruHart is Out of stock till the middle of next month so I have time to research till then. I also know I have to change rotors for better braking. But man this ILX looks fierce when it’s dropped. Mine is black and I absolutely love the feel and look with the Ebach sport kit.
thanks again.

MickyILX did you install something yet? I want something stiffer eventually myself, but really want to stay as close to stock ride height as possible which from my research so far is impossible. I have a 2015 Civic Si rear sway bar and mounts as it's close in size to aftermarket ones, but significantly cheaper if you use an online honda part store.
