Retriction hack + 16 ilx premium
 

Here is a nice hack i found, i was just crying because my car wouldn't read my text message while on drive mode. after researching, heres what i picked up. There is a operation restriction function that can be turnt off allowing the # dail and navi address search to function while in drive mode. Along with the text/email.
To access the operation restriction tab you must enter the diagnostic settings
For the premium models (2 screens without navi) hold the back-audio-menu buttons for 3 sec until this screen appears

On this screen now hold the enter botton for 3 sec and u should end up in the " for developer " screen, as so...

Scroll down the operation restriction and hit enter and on this next screen hit OFF like so...

Now select return and continue selecting return untill you are back out the diagnostic menu.
All restrictions should be off and you should now be able to search a address on the navi and view your incoming messages under email.

For those of you with the tech plus it can be done as well just have to figure out which bottons to hold that leds the diagnostics menu you should try navi-menu back bottons to see if that works


Note. You will need to perform this process after the car is turnt off, for it will reset back to restriction on, i do it when I'm warming up the car, it doesn't take long once you know where to go.
On that note please be safe while driving .

Im just loving this find tho. Also found if you go on the diagnostic menu and under the tab DSP and turn the function Flat to on mode as so..

It gives a lil bass boost, i suggest trying this while a song is playing so you can hear the difference.

And here Id hope some clever Digital Signal Processing would improve audio.
Say a cross-talk filter, or something more clever like SRS, BBE, or DTS Automotive.

Funny how it does play with your audio (even in a standard Premium system).

I guess that's what they mean by a Premium 7 speaker audio system, instead of the standard sub-less 6 speaker setup.


If you make changes to the DSP, does it save when you shut the car off?

^ I wish the dsp setting would stay on. Everything that is changed in the diagnostic menu always resets after the car turns off. We need a hack for that!

I wonder if there's a way to 'save' a setting. Like maybe a special key combination you do to back out of the Diagnostic Menu or the like.

hey guys, so I was able to get into the diagnostic screen on the A-SPEC model. However, I cannot get to the developer screen. any ideas?

Just scroll to he bottom of the diagnostic screen and hold enter for 3 seconds


Works on my premium A-Spec

Has anyone managed to get full mirroring by tricking the console your phone is running the navigation app using Watchdog Pro or Dissident? As I understand from other sites these apps allow true multitasking ergo assign the Acuralink navi app to run in the foreground while you run whatever you want along with it. The solution seems to be jailbroken iPhones only. For Android an app called Multitasking seems to do the trick without rooting it.

I believe it is possible for ILX premium owners with Acuralink to run a jailbroken app called Dissident to get true mirroring and NOT have to go through the Diagnostics mode to mirror your phone. Could somebody confirm this??

I just lost my jailbreak otherwise I would've tried.. :( anyone else knows f this works?

I just want to add that I've successfully mirror my Galaxy S9 phone to the bottom screen of my 2016 ILX Premium via HDMI. The HDMI port and acuralink app was meant to be iOS compatible but we can bypass it and use the bottom screen as a display only. You need to do this every time you start up the engine as I haven't found a way to make this save (nor do I want to..). Its a bit of a hassle but takes about 30s, which might as well consider it engine warm up time.

Parts: You'll need something similar to this, Male HDMI to male cable to the mobile device. I have a Galaxy S9 so I used this:


Instructions:
-Press and hold back + menu + audio for about 5 seconds to get to the diagnosis menu.
-Use the wheel and hover over Self-Diagnosis Mode, press and hold the enter button for another 5 seconds.
-connect your mobile device
-scroll all the way down and select HDMI Diag -> Smartphone Audio
-both screens should mirror your phone, if not, double check your phone or install the appropriate app (phone to tv)
-My galaxy S9 have a built in app called Samsung DeX which gave me two options : Mirror or Desktop interface, the mirror interface is a lot easier to use.
- press and hold back + menu + audio again to get top screen back to diagnosis menu
-use the wheel and scroll to "Return" and return that screen for normal function.
-if return takes too long or doesn't work, you can try to press info button to show clock/drive. If its simply stuck, I recommend restarting.
- You can connect your phone to the bluetooth for the normal call/text functions. Any other car functions like ac, heat, fan speed, will still display on top screen.
- Use the mode button to get to AUX HDMI for the audio; if there is no audio or not sync properly, simply press mode to get to any other audio (FM, AM, .. ) then go back to AUX HDMI.

Bugs(?):
-Google map with Samsung music cuts out the audio and display sometime; could be the cable, could be the app, could be the phone, hard to tell.
-No problem with Youtube and VLC so far

I have 2016 ILX A-spec and can’t get to screen to change DSP settings. Can you help please?

No HDMI, Canadian car, I can get to diagnostics screen( nav-back-menu) but when I press and hold enter it exits.

Yes, and in case anyone else needs the info on this thread, with car running and stereo on: hold Back, Menu, & Audio buttons simultaneously. THEN the often missed step is after the first screen shows, hold Enter and that will take you into the developer screen.
