text message with iphone?

When I first bought the ILX, I had a Samsung Galaxy S4. The ILX would display/read the text over bluetooth. When I switched to the iphone 5s, I lost this capability and also can't send auto-reply text messages. Does anyone know how to fix this problem with the iphone 5s?

I have the 5s and was told it would not work by the dealer. Curious to know if that was correct

I love my ILX but I think the text message interface is buggy and not worth the effort. I un-paired my iPhone 4 within weeks of getting the car because I was so frustrated with its inconsistency. Good luck & keep us posted.

Generally, the system will read iPhone texts but not allow you to reply. This is because Apple is not conforming exactly to the MAP protocol (maybe because of iMessage???). If you have a Premium or Tech, you should get the Siri Eyes Free upgrade to allow text reading and replying via Siri and the 'talk' button on the steering wheel.

If you have a base ILX, this is not available to you. However, you can still access Siri via your 'home' button on the iphone. Texts can be read and replied to through the in-car mic and speakers.

I have an iPhone 5s too and whenever I try the text messaging function it says something like "Phone not supported"... Doesn't make much sense... It has worked for you?

I am definitely interested in learning more about this. I've looked up online and the best I've found is this: http://m.acura.com/pdf/owners/shared...uide_Acura.pdf, but it doesn't mention how to actually activate it. Has anybody had luck with it on their car, paired with an iPhone 5s?

For the record, I have a 2014 ILX with the Canadian Dynamic (which includes Tech & Premium de facto)

I'm with In2itioN - I have never been able to use the 5s with my car. The salesman told me upfront it wouldn't work with the text messaging function

Sorry I wasn't more clear. It does not "work" per se, since it only does half of the job. I found that if you activate a setting in the car's set up screen you can get this partial functionality. Since it stalls at replies, I immediately deactivated it. IMO, it's something of a glitch and not a 'feature' for iPhone users.

As for Siri, I'm sorry that I missed that you're in Canada. I'm not sure if its available up North, but if it is, you need to see your dealer for a software update. This patch requires 15-20 minutes of a mechanics time so they may choose to charge a labor fee, but we'll do it for free for anyone who requests it in our store.

Have you tried adding the Siri functionality yet? It works really well and I love being able to add reminders on the fly or calling anyone in the phone.

Yes, Premium or Tech only. The update requires the usage of the proprietary service department laptop to install the software patch.
