Slow ILX sale in March

I'm quite surprised at the sale number on Acura ILX, considering 2016 model went on sale since late February.

2013 March: 2059 Vehicles sold
2014 March: 1683 Vehicles
2015 March: 1554 Vehicles

I seriously expected, this 2016 Acura ILX would sell at least 30,000 a year, but based on the number I'm seeing, I don't even think they would reach 25,000.

My lease on 2013 ILX is done in 5 months, and haven't really test drove new ILX yet, is TLX 2.4 far too superior compared to ILX? or is it because of lower gas price and everyone is starting to look at V6, V8s again?

My guess is that the i4 TLX might be stealing some of the sales of the ILX on TSX lease returns that went ILX last year and are now TLX now with a smaller car choice over the 4g TL. Sales of a number of car models are down from years past so some of this decline might be considered normal for the times. The last note is that there are some other car models in the ILX class or price range that are stealiing market share: Corolla, Sentra, Elantra, and even the Chrysler 200

Acura has been doing a lot of this lately. Announcing an "on sale" date with no real inventory in dealerships. We have yet to receive any but hopefully this month.

The TLX is more refined than the ILX but it is much larger. I'd say check back in 2-3 months and let's see how it does. IMO, 2000-2500 per month is not an unreasonable ask. I'd bet we could sell 30 a month if we could get them.

Although I'm new to owning an Acura, I would agree about the lack of inventory being the biggest reason. The two dealerships in my area have only received a couple of the new ILX's so far. After we bought ours a month ago the dealership said they weren't sure when they would receive the next ones.

We've owned our's for a month now and so far we're completely happy with our purchase. Although I'm sure the ILX is the slowest selling vehicle Acura makes simply because of selling point, we bought ours (for my wife) because of it's size and reputation of Acura.

She didn't want something as large as an Accord sedan and didn't like the Civic's so when we found the ILX at almost the same price as an Accord, we decided to purchase.

I agree, my local dealer only has two of them. It took my dealer a while to get any TLX inventory built up too. I think April and May will be a better indicator of how well the ILX is being received.

30,000 a year? Expecting a MMC to increase sales by 10,000 a year or 50% is unrealistic. I was being overly optimistic by thinking sales would increase 25% to 25,000 a year.

Has any Acura MMC ever boosted sales by such a huge amount (50%)? I think the best we can hope for is for sales to stay flat to maybe +5% growth year over year.

Maybe they'll have better luck with the 2nd generation.
