Just cut it already! It gets easier once you make that first cut. Trust me!

Do y'all want step-1 through step-end how-to? Like measuring to draw a template + how to remove bumper + how to cut/what to use? the whole nine?

no step by step. just a picture of your template and tips or tricks when cutting and the finished product.

Oh I thought you guys were talking about a build thread not a diy
Someone already did a basic diy... not much to it but its not really a straight forward mod with one way to do it.

I say make a trentimus build thread and post it step by step in there. But not in a new thread. We already have like 2 exhaust threads.

yea, I've been asking for a build thread, too...in there he can do a step by step or a quick summary version of the exhaust mod.

The shiney one is obviously the Vibrant resonator, the Borla is the XR1 "Type-S" muffler, and that's a 4" rolled tip - 4" round tip from borla. Came out to a total of $260 then the shop is charging me $100 to do all the work for replacing the rear section piping to 2.5" and welding the tip on.

The outside isn't the important part, plus the Borla will be the one hidden under the car. The vibrant will be exposed. *though you'd save A LOT if you went with Vibrant.. quality and they're CHEAP* All of their products get great reviews though.. just from my friend's Accord having the same Vibrant res I can say it DOES the job!

I had the vibrant on my cobalt and loved it! I had a JBP Header (Noodle, Unequal Length) and without the resonator it was disgusting. With the resonator the car sounded like a Subaru, and I loved it.

I'm still trying to find a muffler I like to replace mine with the dual setup.

You should totally do the install yourself minus the welding. Save yourself half the money.

It's all bending pipe (pipe I don't have) and welding it together. I don't have a welder nor the ability to bend pipe :\

Thats going to looks so sick. Cant wait!! Were you the one that painted the rear black?

Cut outs for the dual exhaust with the rear side valance and the middle section painted blck like a faux diffuser would look KILLER.

Yeah, I painted the rear Hot Rod Trim Black. It's got dust on it in that picture but when it's clean its perfect.

How are you going to deal with this? I assume you can't just trim that piece off.

He explained in in my progress thread I believe.
If I remember correctly he used a torch to heat it up then a 2x4 and floor jack to press a groove into it.
Awesome work cant wait to see it myself.

Yeah, I already got passed that issue. Take a torch, heat up the metal really good and usually guys just take a 5lb sledge and go crazy. I wanted a cleaner fix so I took a hydraulic floor jack and a 2x4 cut down to fit and just used it to press the well out of the way.

On a side note... I too get to join the bumper re-spray club. Looks like my car got backed into on the driver side rear bumper. Bumper is in alright shape, but the paint is gone. easy fix, but go figure.

We got busy at the body shop with hail repair and so I'm working 10 hour shifts at the shop on my days off from PayPal. I am repainting my bumper on wednesday and then should be able to finish the final welds and get some pictures up.

It will get done by the 2nd week of August! I can't keep driving around like it is now haha.
