Day 4 and 300 miles into my new '14 ILX: Rear-ended
Hey everybody,
Just got my '14 black ILX 2.4L MT on Saturday and it's been a ton of fun so far.
But I may be the unluckiest person or luckiest person ever depending on how you look at it.
So I'm coming home from work today and get to a long light. Just bopping around, music cranked up, the turn Lane I'm in slows down and stops.
I sit there for maybe 2 seconds and wham. Someone rear ends my 4 day/300 mile old ILX. I mean I lurched forward and my head went pretty far forward too. It felt pretty hard.
I sit there and don't move for a second, not believing what just happened. I look in my rear view and I see some girl in a ford escape with her hands on her head like oh no.
I out the flashers on and hop out and she does too. I walk around to the back expecting to see carnage. She hops out saying how sorry she is and asking if I want her info. I can't even look at her. She disgusts me.
I get to the bumper and I'm shock. No dent. Not even a scratch. I thoroughly inspect the car and it's in mint condition. How this happened I don't know. I get her info and peace out but there is really nothing wrong.
Idk if I'm lucky or unlucky but my car feels like its been deflowered. Just got to forget about this and love her again.
Lesson of the story: Women are just pitiful drivers.

Pull the spare and check the trunk floor if you haven't yet. Depending where she hit the bumper it may have transferred most of the energy to the floor, but I would imagine there has to be a scratch lol.
Name the car Bullet Proof otherwise haha.

I had something similar happen to my old car...rear ended and no damage done. Well, a few months later the paint on the bumper had spiderwebbed (not sure if that's the right term or not). I guess the bumper flexed when it was hit and it took some time for the paint to show the damage.
Keep a close eye on it!

Ok I'll take some pictures this weekend and show you the bumper. It honestly looks completely fine.
USDMJON- I'll take the pics this weekend after she gets tinted and washed. 15 all the way around. Should look sexy.
UCF - now you have me worried!
Switt - Ill check the trunk tomorrow. It's gonna be like opening a box of snakes. I really won't want to.

the paint basically starts cracking and eventually flake. hard to believe there isn't a scratch, imprint or marring on the bumper. the other thing you may not see is potential damage under the cover.
