My girlfriend recently purchased an ILX and she was concerned about the sound the engine was making. I am not sure if this is normal or if there is an issue. It has just over 16K miles on it.

Definitely not normal..not too familiar with this engine but i know they do have a ticking noise. This is way above that.

 

I have a 2016 and this is definitely more high-pitched than normal. Please have it checked.

 

First, I would say change the oil. If that doesn't quiet it down, have valves adjusted. Those are 2 known things that can cause a loud engine.
