Anything special for first oil change?

I know our car has a special engine oil out of the factory but is there any extra steps when we go to do our first oil change? Going to change my own oil and don't want to mess anything up.

Take off plug
Let it drain
Put plug in
Take filter out
Put new filter on
Fill oil

Same as always. Nothing special.

maybe add a beer to that step

for you to sip on. not the car

Follow the two posts above and you will be good to go -

Make sure you replace your blinker fluid.

I am not sure what an "oil ring is," but if you are talking about drain plug washer, I replace mine every other oil change.

Sorry I forgot the beer part. Alcohol is against my religion.

Agree on the blinker fluid. Forgot that part as well.

Do you mean crush washer? If so, yes

It's only the first oil change so I wouldn't expect blinkah or headlight fluid to be replaced yet. You can certainly check and make sure they aren't low, but again wouldn't expect they need to be replaced yet.

+1 and if you got the car recently, make sure to replace the winter air in the tires with spring air. Spring is less than a month away. Or just do summer air, that way you won't have to change it again 3 months down the road

Good catch. I have a lowly TSX so forgot about that. The ILX and the GT-R needs the special air, per season.

Good call:thumbsup:

Now both of you are talking crazy talk. If you pay for special air at time of delivery, you never need to check it or change it at all. It's lifetime air. You need to read your owner's manual (RTFM).

You should have opted for the manual with the big glossy pictures and no big words in it - :2cents:

Books are a waste of time. I aspire to be like ILX owners, who get women left and right due to their car.

Women > Books

But when they dismount the tires to rotate them, they'll need to refill the tires with new air so it can't be lifetime.

Whoa - one step at a time. You need to start with the books or magazines with the women in them first before you can get real women with your car.

You are a moron. Everyone knows tires are made specifically for a particular axle. Front tires only go on the front axle and rear tires only go on the rear axle. Tires are like sox - left sock on left foot, right sock on right foot and not the other way around. Wrong tires on the wrong axle can cause serious damage much the same way you can sprain your ankle by having the socks on the wrong foot.

LOL

You kill me. You are the best thing from MA, since the Celtics losses

NBP04TL4ME 02-27-2015 05:53 PM

^^^^ I have my moments!!

And the Celtics - I haven't really followed them since the original big three - Bird, McHale and Parish

2012wagon 02-27-2015 05:54 PM

When I was there and used to go to the Garden, people at work would always say..they never watched since Bird. LOL.

Not saying you are them..but it was common.

As they say, winners write history :D

Too bad McHale as GM/Coach has really muddied up his post playing legacy.

NBP04TL4ME 02-27-2015 06:03 PM

Oh, I've watched off and on for years as I like basketball, however I don't watch like I used to - which was almost every game. At the same time life has gotten much busier, wife, kids, cars, houses, jobs - the usual stuff.

OP - sorry for the :hijack:

2012wagon 02-27-2015 06:05 PM

Thread jack don't matter. Question was answered.

Yup same here. Sigh... barely get to watch Superbowl with other life committments, as you mentioned above.
